Job Call for Freelance Project Assistant

We are now looking for a Project Assistant for a one year freelance contract. Your duties will be coordinating the organization of the “Flag it!” project, organized by EYP under the framework of the Youth in Action Programme, which will be held in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia throughout 2013.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • monitoring EYP - “Flag it” partners relations;
  • support the project coordinator in overseeing the project
  • take care of logistical needs for seminars and meetings foreseen by the project;
  • supporting the visibility of the project by collecting audio-video materials produced and spread them among partners, participants and web users through social networks and websites;
  • assisting with the update of the organisation’s website;
  • supporting EYP team in the evaluation of the project.

You will be required to have the following skills and qualities:

  • proven experience in being involved or managing European and international (youth) projects;
  • be able to work with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • budget management skills;
  • to be fluent in English, able to communicate professionally and to write reports;
  • to be well-organised, self-motivated and reliable;
  • to be able to work as a freelancer or contractor with a tax number
  • computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media, are required.

We are offering:

  • if requested: involvement in EYP’s daily activities and participation at meetings;
  • an overall payment of 7200 Euros.

About “Flag it!” project:

“Flag it!” aims at equipping young people interested in media with the tools they need to raise awareness of global environmental challenges by bridging social media, technology and scientific information. The training course will be based on the best practice provided by Brazilian NGO oEco (http://www.oecoamazonia.com) in mapping deforestation in the Amazon basin.
48 young people from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America will learn how to use technology and social media in order to report about environmental issues. Four different seminars with 12 participants each will be organised in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia
Venue(s): Brussels – Belgium, Bucharest – Romania, Sao Paulo – Brazil, Legazpi - Philippines, Lagos - Nigeria.
European Youth Press (EYP) is an umbrella association of young journalists in Europe. EYP regularly organizes events for young journalists and promotes the role of youth media and the freedom of press in Europe.
