Commonwealth Scholarships in Low and Middle Income Countries, 2015-2016

Applications are invited for Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan to study at participating universities in low and middle income countries. Scholarships are awarded to undertake a two year masters degree program in Bangladesh, Botswana, Cameroon, Caribbean (Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago), Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, South Pacific (Fiji, Samoa) and Sri Lanka. Applicants must be citizens of any Commonwealth country except for which they are applying and must hold a first degree of upper second class Honours standard (or above) in a discipline relevant to that in which study is proposed. The application deadline is 30 April 2015.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in any subject except for University of Botswana that includes all courses available at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Health Sciences, or Faculty of Science); University of Buea that includes Linguistics, Fisheries and Animal Production, Special Education, Microbiology and Parasitology, Environmental Science and Women and Gender Studies; COMSATS Institute of Information Technology includes all courses of the Department of Bio Sciences, Department of Mathematics, and Department of Physics); Papua New Guinea University of Technology offers only Agriculture, Applied Physics, Development Studies, Forestry and Mechanical Engineering; University of the South Pacific offers MComm Accounting, MAgr Master of Agriculture, MComm Banking and Finance, Chemistry, Climate Change, Computer Science, MComm Development Studies, MComm Diplomacy and International Affairs, Earth Science, MComm Economics, Education, Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Geography, MComm Governance, History, Information Systems, Journalism, MComm Land Management, Linguistics, Literature, MComm Management and Public Administration, Marine Management, Mathematics, Pacific Studies, Physics, MComm Population Studies and Demography, Psychology, Social Policy and Sociology and Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Colombo offers MBA Master of Business Administration, Cellular and Molecular Immunology and Molecular Sciences.

Eligibility:
-Be citizens of any Commonwealth country except for which your are applying i.e. Bangladesh, Botswana, Cameroon, Caribbean (Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago), Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, South Pacific (Fiji, Samoa) and Sri Lanka

Scholarship Description: The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is a unique programme. Since its establishment in 1959, it has provided opportunities for over 30,000 citizens of all Commonwealth countries to study in other member countries. Since the scholarships have traditionally been supported by host governments, the overwhelming majority have been hosted by developed Commonwealth countries. Now, following the establishment of the CSFP endowment fund in 2009, a new strand of Commonwealth Scholarships located in low and middle income countries is available.
Number of award(s): Up to 14 scholarships are awarded (one for each country except for Sri Lanka for which two scholarships and Kenya for which 3 scholarships are available).
Duration of award(s): Scholarships are awarded for up to two years,
What does it cover? Scholarships include:
-Full tuition fees
-Monthly/quarterly stipend (living allowance) set at local rates
-Arrival allowance (usually) USD 500, to contribute to additional costs incurred in moving to your host country
-One economy class return airfare between your home and host countries

How to Apply: Applications should be submitted via email. Successful candidates will have to complete an application form for their host university in addition to their scholarship application.
