Ashoka
Present in nearly 85 countries, Ashoka is a non-profit
organisation whose goal, for the last 30 years, has been to contribute to the
development and efficiency of the social entrepreneurship sector. Its core work
consists of supporting the development of innovative social entrepreneurs,
enabling these "pioneers" to participate in the expansion of the
sector and accelerate the delivery of social innovation in areas such as
education, health, the fight against discrimination, sustainable development
and human rights. They are selected through a rigorous process and given
financial and professional support to help them increase their social impact.
Nearly 3,000 innovative social entrepreneurs are now part of the worldwide
Ashoka network.
Ashoka Belgium was established in 2007 and continues to grow
within the France/Belgium/ Switzerland cluster. Each year, the Ashoka Belgium
network expands its network of Belgian entrepreneurs, both French and Dutch
speaking entrepreneurs, who currently number nine. Last year saw the launch of
the second Belgian edition of the IMPACT programme, called “Energy for all”, in
partnership with the King Baudouin Foundation, to support and reward young
initiators of projects with a social and environmental impact in the field of
fuel poverty. The challenge of Ashoka Belgium is to develop its reputation
through various communication, development and structure projects in the social
entrepreneurship sector. The Belgian office is located in Brussels and consists
of a country manager, a process manager and five interns.

Proposed missions
As the structure of Ashoka Belgium is continually changing,
the roles assigned to interns are varied and require a great ability to work on
multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.
Venture programme – Selection of social entrepreneurs
Venture programme – Selection of social entrepreneurs
Venture is the Ashoka network's selection programme for
innovative social entrepreneurs. At the core of Ashoka's work, Venture is
how the history of all Fellows begins. Within the Venture programme, you will
review nominations, meet Belgian Fellowship candidates and evaluate projects
and their potential. It is also a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the
world of social entrepreneurship, gain an overview of the projects and
entrepreneurs that drive it and acquire in-depth knowledge of the specifics of
the sector.

Fellowship programme – Support of social entrepreneurs
Once selected, candidates officially join the network and
become Ashoka Fellows. As part of the Fellowship programme, you will maintain
contact with these social entrepreneurs. You will organise meetings and events
to expand the dynamics of the network and promote exchanges between its
members. To facilitate these exchanges, you will also capitalise on good
practices and disseminate solutions to help each of the Fellows to change scale
more easily.

Changemaker Schools programme – Reimagining learning for the
21st century
A new programme at Ashoka, Changemaker Schools aims to
create a network of schools that want to change the conversation in education
both in Europe as worldwide by promoting changemaker skills like empathy, leadership,
creativity and teamwork. In this context, you will explore the field of
education, meet its actors (schools, associations,…), manage a project
developed by an international team and lead schools to a selection panel.
Exciting, dynamic and in phase with our time are the main characteristics of
the programme.

Development and Co-Creation programme
As part of the development programme, you will help lead and
develop the Ashoka Support Network for business leaders in addition to
partnerships with private businesses and social entrepreneurs. You will work
particularly on the development of the network of prescribers and ASN members.
Besides you will work on new partnerships with foundations, organisations and
companies while encouraging the co-creation of innovative solutions where the
social, business and public sectors meet.

writing press releases, media contacts, promotion of the Fellow of the month),
monitoring of the website and social networks, creation of new tools
(development of video, media, brochures,…), events management. You can now

IMPACT programme
Ashoka Belgium has launched the second Belgian edition of
the IMPACT programme last year, in partnership with the King Baudouin
Foundation. This programme rewards between 10 and 15 innovative social
entrepreneurship initiatives in the field of fuel poverty. The selected project
initiators receive free vocational training to structure their business model
and build a sustainable business model. As part of this programme, the intern
will assist in the organisation of training sessions and programme events and
possibly act as junior coach for one of the project leaders.
