Each year, the German Federal Environmental Foundation awards
scholarship exchange programme for highly qualified university graduates
from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries for further vocational
qualification in solving environmental and nature conservation problems
in the scholarship holders’ home country. The scholarship also enables
graduates a research stay at German host institutions i.e. research
centers and universities, enterprises, ministries, offices and NGOs.
Approximately 60 scholarships will be awarded for a minimum term of six
months and for a maximum period up to twelve months.

Eligibility: The basic formal requirements for an application are:
-Graduates from the participating countries
-National of a participating country
-Permanent residence in the home country
-Above average (good to very good) university degree (Master, Master, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree is not sufficient)
-The degree must be no longer than three years are back
-Relevant environmental and topical issue (for the home country of the EU or global)
-The knowledge of the German language, which must be proven by the beginning of the scholarship
-Application and interview in German or English
-A solid project partners or specific placement is not a precondition for promotion.
Scholarship Open for: Applicants from Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia are eligible for these scholarships.

Duration: The minimum term of a scholarship is six months; the maximum supporting period is twelve months.
Value: The monthly amount of a scholarship is 1,060 and exempt from tax and social security contributions. Additionally, scholarship holders have insurance coverage against health, accident and liability risks. Beyond that, the DBU supports a German language course in the home country prior to the scholarship. A corresponding request, addressed in advance is necessary.
Notification: The invitation to the interview no later than 4-6 weeks after the application deadline. The final decision one day after the interview. The decision of the selection committee can be obtained by telephone after the interviews with the regional coordinators on the day.

-Copy of the complete high school transcripts (Bachelor and Master/Master). Should not be the final certificate of admission from the previous academic performance, and the date of graduation must be submitted. The diploma must be submitted one month before the start of the fellowship.
