Traineeship in Direct Supervision

Your team
As a successful applicant, you will be assigned to one of the Joint Supervisory Teams (JSTs) in Directorates General Microprudential Supervision I and II (DG/MS I and II), which are responsible for the ongoing supervision of significant banks within the scope of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The SSM is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries.

A JST is a well-rounded team of experts in banking supervision who are in charge of the Supervisory Examination Programme for a specific significant bank falling under the direct supervision of the ECB. Each JST has between two and 15 members from the ECB and additional members from the national supervisory authorities. You may also be assigned to horizontal projects on banking supervision.

Your role
As a trainee, you will contribute to the tasks of a JST or of a horizontal team by:
analysing financial accounts and monitoring market perceptions of supervised entities;
analysing the legal and regulatory framework for financial institutions in various jurisdictions;
assisting with data collection and analysis, generating tables, charts and reports;
working independently, under the guidance of a mentor, on projects relating to the implementation of supervisory practices and standards.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, business administration, financial/banking law, accounting or other relevant discipline;
a keen interest in banking-related risk analysis, in the implementation of financial regulation and in the implementation of supervisory standards and practices;
an advanced command of English and an intermediate knowledge of at least one other official language of the EU.
Desired:
a master’s degree in the fields mentioned above;
knowledge of banking analysis, banking regulation, corporate finance, risk management or accounting;
knowledge of data analysis functionalities and statistical packages;
additional European languages.

Working modalities
Working for European banking supervision involves spending short periods of time abroad for on-site visits or training.

The traineeships are for six months, with the possibility of an extension (to a maximum of 12 months in total) in the same business area or within the SSM, subject to business needs and satisfactory performance.

YOUNGO Global South Scholarships 2017 at Bonn, Germany

YOUNGO is the official youth constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). YOUNGO is made up of organizations and individuals who identify as the youth it is not an organization, but, rather, a collection of groups and/or individuals.
In light of the barriers facing the participation of youth from the Global South, the GSS 2017 will provide the necessary financial resources to enable more young people to attend COY13 and COP23 who otherwise would not have the opportunity. Alongside covering the costs of their participation (travel, accommodation, food, etc), the GSS 2017 will also provide a robust capacity building program to empower Global South participation which is effective, rather than tokenistic.

If selected, They will be available to join COP 23 and / COY 13 in Bonn, Germany for the full duration from November 2nd – November 18th. And shall also be able to attend the online Capacity Building Training sessions prior to the conference;

500 Humboldt Research Fellowships for International Applicants in Germany, 2017-2018

Up to 500 Humboldt Research Fellowships are available for experienced researchers to carry out a long-term research project (6-18 months) at a research institution in Germany. Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply.
A Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers allows you to carry out long-term research (6-18 months) in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host. The fellowship is flexible and can be divided up into as many as three stays within three years.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (German: Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung) is a foundation established by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as well as other national and international partners; it promotes international academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from Germany and from abroad.
Scholars in the humanities or social sciences and physicians must have a good knowledge of German if it is necessary to carry out the research successfully; otherwise a good knowledge of English; scientists and engineers must have a good knowledge of German or English.
Course Level: Fellowships are available for experienced researchers to carry out a long-term research project (6-18 months) at a research institution in Germany.
Study Subject(s): Applicants choose their own research projects and their host in Germany and prepare their research plan independently. Details of the research project and the time schedule must be agreed upon with the prospective host in advance.
Scholarship Award: The fellowship is worth 3,150 EUR per month. This includes a mobility lump sum and a contribution towards health and liability insurance.
Additional benefits for research fellows:
lump sum for the fellow’s travel expenses if the costs are not borne by a third party;
language fellowship for an intensive language course lasting two to four months at selected language institutes in Germany immediately prior to the actual period of research;
language fellowships may also be granted to accompanying marital partners.
family allowances for accompanying family members staying at least three months (monthly allowance: up to 326 EUR for marital partners and up to 234 EUR for each child);
for single-parents: flat-rate allowance for accompanying children (under the age of 18) forstays of at least three months (400 EUR per month for the first child and 100 EUR per month for every additional child);
additional extension of the fellowship up to 12 month for research fellows accompanied by children under the age of 12;
a subsidy towards research costs to be paid to the hosts in Germany amounting to 800 EUR per month (for research in the natural sciences and engineering) and 500 EUR (for research in the humanities and social sciences);
Europe allowance for a research stay at a research institute in another European country (though not the research fellow’s own country); for a designated period in the course of the fellowship if necessary to ensure the success of the research;
extensive alumni sponsorship once a successful research stay has come to an end, especially for maintaining contacts with collaborative partners in Germany during the Humboldtian’s entire academic career.
Scholarship can be taken in Germany
Eligibility:
Doctorate or comparable academic degree (Ph.D., C.Sc. or equivalent), completed less than twelve years prior to the date of application. If it is not possible or customary to take a doctorate in the candidate’s subject or country, an application may be submitted up to 16 years after completing a Master’s or Diploma degree, provided that the publication record is commensurate with the candidate’s career stage.
The candidate’s own research profile documented by a comprehensive list of academic publications reviewed according to international standards and printed in journals and/or by publishing houses.
Confirmation that research facilities are available and mentoring agreement and a detailed expert’s statement by an academic host at a research institution in Germany.
Three expert reviews from important collaborative partners and/or academics from the candidate’s own institute and, if possible, from abroad.
Necessary language skills: humanities or social sciences and medicine: good knowledge of German if it is necessary to carry out the research successfully; otherwise a good knowledge of English; natural sciences and engineering: good knowledge of German or English. Potential applicants who have been in Germany for more than six months at the time of application are not eligible to apply.
Nationality: Scientists and scholars of all nationalities may apply for these Humboldt Research Fellowships.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: Applicant must have a doctorate or comparable academic degree (Ph.D., C.Sc. or equivalent), completed less than twelve years prior to the date of application.
English Language Requirement: Scholars in the humanities or social sciences and physicians must have a good knowledge of German if it is necessary to carry out the research successfully; otherwise a good knowledge of English; scientists and engineers must have a good knowledge of German or English.
How to Apply: Applications should be submitted by post.
Application Deadline: Applications may be sent at any time. The complete application should be submitted to the Humboldt Foundation at least four to seven months ahead of the prospective selection date. The selection committee meets three times a year, in March, July and November.

University of Hamburg Ph.D Scholarships 2017

Description
Doctoral education in structured Ph.D. programs has become an essential part of the qualification process of young academics in Europe and Germany. The Graduate School of the “Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures” at the University of Hamburg invites applications for Ph.D. Scholarships, 3-4 year scholarships within the Graduate School Scholarship Programme of the German Academic Exchange Service – DAAD starting April 1st, 2018.
Eligibility
The CSMC is a unique research center for the historical and comparative study of manuscript cultures in Asia, Africa, and Europe, building on decades of manuscript studies at the University of Hamburg. It was established in 2011 with a generous grant from the German Research Association (DFG) in order to develop a comprehensive approach to manuscript cultures including disciplines such as philology, paleography, codicology, art history, and material analysis. Communication in the international research community of the Centre is conducted in English, and dissertations should be written in English or German.
Highly qualified and highly motivated Ph.D. students with an M.A. or equivalent degree in all disciplines studying manuscript cultures regardless of the region is wanted.

The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies (Munich/Regensburg, Germany) calls for applications for up to 3 positions as a research assistant (PhD candidate position) – employment according to the German TV-L in part time (65 %) – and up to 3 PhD scholarships (beginning November 15, 2017).
The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is a joint program by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich and the Universität Regensburg. The School is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) as part of the German Excellence Initiative and started in November 2012. Research at the Graduate School is conducted in three broad interdisciplinary fields:
Origins and Forms of Social and Political Change;
Cultural Systems;
Infrastructure, Migration, and Transfer of Knowledge.
Research at the Graduate School focuses particularly on interrelations and interdependencies between East and Southeast Europe and other regions of the world.
In the context of its primary focus on East and Southeast Europe, the Graduate School draws on the following disciplines: History, Literary and Language Studies, Art History, Theatre Studies, Social Sciences, and Law.
In the context of cross-regional comparisons and transfer studies the School’s expertise in Area Studies is complemented by insights from Chinese, Japanese and North American Studies.

Benefits
Beginning November 15, 2017, available for 18 months with the option of extension for another 24 months, the Graduate School offers the following doctoral positions:
Up to 3 positions as a research assistant – employment according to the German TV-L in part-time (65 %);
Up to 3 Ph.D. Scholarships.
These Research Assistant positions are assigned to conduct an independent Ph.D. project. The remuneration is based on Grade E 13 (65%) of the German Public Service Salary Scale. It includes a teaching obligation of one semester hour per week.
Ph.D. Scholarships are awarded with a basic monthly stipend of 1.365 Euro, plus travel funds, grants for material costs as well as child-care expenses in accordance with DFG guidelines where applicable.
Both forms of doctoral positions can be realized either at the LMU Munich or at the Universität Regensburg, depending on the advisor’s assignment.
The holders of both the doctoral positions and the scholarships will be expected to:
Successfully conduct an independent research project which contributes to the Graduate School’s research fields;
Participate in the Graduate School’s seminars and qualification program.

Bundestag International Parliamentary Scholarship

Description
The German Bundestag awards around 120 scholarships for young university graduates from 41 nations with the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technische Universität Berlin. The program runs every year from 1 March to 31 July. If you come from Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, France, Israel, the USA or the Arab world, you can follow the procedures in the German Bundestag for five months by means of the International Parliamentary Scholarship Fellowship of the Bundestag (IPS), three of them working in a deputy office. The program is under the patronage of the Bundestag President.
The objectives are:
To promote relations between Germany and the participating countries;
Consolidate democratic values ​​and tolerance;
Deepen understanding of cultural diversity;
To ensure peaceful coexistence in the world.
Eligibility
The IPS is open to highly qualified, committed, open-minded and politically interested young women and men who have the will to actively shape the democratic future of their country. The scholarship holders are selected by an independent selection committee of the German Bundestag, with the participation of the Berlin universities, on the basis of professional, social, linguistic and intercultural skills.
Requirements:
Citizenship of the participating country (dual citizenship possible);
Completed university study;
Very good German language skills (at least level B 2 of the Common European Framework of Languages);

DBU Scholarship Exchange Programme with CEE Countries

In 2009, the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) also began accepting individual applications from  Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Kosovo.
The programme offers young environmental scientists from these countries the opportunity to obtain additional professional qualifications through a research fellowship in Germany for up to 12 months. Applications are made online. The best applicants will be chosen once a year. The research stay in Germany begins approximately six months after the selection interviews have taken place.
The DBU welcomes a wide range of topics in the environmental sciences and especially supports reseach stays in facilities that offer experience in step with actual practice. Some scholarship holders from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) use their reseach stay in Germany to continue work on their dissertation. The DBU welcomes partnerships between German and international university institutions.
Institutions that host international scholarship recipients include universities, companies from the environmental management, engineering and consulting sectors as well as ministries and other associations. The DBU provides approximately 60 research fellowshiops at German institutions annually for young scientists from the aforementioned countries. The amount of the scholarship is 1,250 € per month. In addition to financial support, health, accident and liability insurance is also provided.
The scholarship begins with a 3-4-week intensive German course in Osnabrück. The cost of the course will be financed by the DBU.Additional information on the course will be communicated after the successful accomplishment of theapplication process.

Employee Services Division:
Health services team – contributing to the development and implementation of corporate health policies and events, assisting in the development of health communications and educational material, and supporting the administration of ECB social security schemes;

Qualifications and experience: You will bring to the role:
a bachelor’s degree or higher, with a specialisation relevant to the work of the DG/HR teams, in one of the following fields: human resources management, business administration, employment/industrial relations, social and organisational psychology, law (preferably EU employment and social security law), business information systems, or another relevant discipline;
an advanced command of English and a good knowledge of at least one other official language of the EU;
a very good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar software;
knowledge of, and ideally initial practical experience in, one or more of the following areas:

SWP Internship for International Students

Description
SWP offers a limited number of three-month full-time internships for highly motivated students. They are particularly interested in attracting young academics in political science and related social sciences (economics, law, administration, occasionally also regional studies, ethnology or journalism). The interns’ based offices will be in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
Eligibility
They accept students at the following stages:
Students already studying for a Master degree (also Hauptstudium in the German Magister/Staatsexamen/Diplom system);
Holders of Bachelor degree who can demonstrate they are applying for a place on a master’s degree course and who expect to be regular master’s students at the time proposed for the internship;
Holders of Bachelor/ Master degree who are enrolled on an additional Bachelor or Master degree course.
Remuneration
Interns at SWP receive EUR 300 per month. Exceptions are only possible where the internship is already funded by another public or private organisation. The deadlines for applications:

The Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) is a creative, lively and diverse place for conducting research and teaching. Scientists from a whole range of disciplines work under one roof at their Berlin and Neuglobsow sites. Applications are invited for International IGB Fellowship Programme for excellent scientists from all countries and at the different career, stages to apply for a research visit at IGB.  Fellowships are available for PhD students, postdocs and senior scientists for 6-24 months.
