Description

The Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (NUFFIC) offers fellowships to participate in training courses in The Netherlands. NUFFIC offers StuNed, NFP and MSP (MENA) Fellowships. These fellowships seek to develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, and abilities of professionals to enable their organisations and communities to succeed in an ever-changing world. This is initiated and (almost) fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Eligibility

For NFP Scholarships there is no age limit. In order to qualify, you must meet the following selection criteria:

National of, and working and living in the listed NFP country;

Not employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff development, for example:

Multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),

Large national and/or large commercial organisations,

Bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida,

Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),

Multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB),

International NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);

Have a passport that will still be valid for at least three months after completion of the training;

Not received more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;

Proficient English language skills: The short courses are taught in English. Therefore, it is important that your English language skills (writing and speaking) are good.

Work experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required, working with or for local or regional authorities. It is to your advantage if the work/experience is related to the content of the training.

To be eligible for an MSP Scholarship you must meet the employer, language and work experience criteria mentioned above. Furthermore, you must:

Be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the following

MSP country list valid at the time of application;

Have an official passport that will still be valid at least three months after completion of the training;

Not be over 45 years of age at the time of the grant submission.

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship 2018

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship provides master’s and doctoral funding for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States to participate in educational, cultural, residential community building, and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). Undertaking degree studies at UHM through an East-West Center fellowship is not merely about receiving a financial aid scholarship. Since the basic purpose of the East-West Center is to build a sense of Asia-Pacific community and prepare for future leadership roles, EWC graduate student fellows live together and interact with each other in both intellectual and social activities. They are, from the very outset, an identifiable group committed to the notion of building an Asia-Pacific community. Through team-building activities, leadership development projects and internships, learning about the Asia Pacific region, cultural exchange, educational enrichment gatherings, community service and service learning projects, EWC graduate degree fellows establish friendships and lifelong ties to a network of people committed to positive change in the Asia Pacific region.

The graduate degree fellowship covers the cost of tuition and fees, books, housing in an East-West Center dormitory, and partial funding toward meals, health insurance, and incidental expenses. Funding for field study and conference presentations is offered on a competitive basis during the fellow’s period of study.

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship invites applications from:

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship provides the following funding:

Full-time graduate tuition and fees up to the equivalent of the tuition charged for post-baccalaureate students at the University of Hawaii at Manoa toward master’s or doctoral studies;

Housing in an East-West Center residence hall, based on single occupancy;

A stipend to partially cover food and incidental expenses (Refer to the section on taxes on stipends for additional information);

An allowance for books, materials and supplies; and

Subsidy toward health insurance coverage.

Before the start of the award, applicants for graduate programs must have obtained a 4-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited U.S. college or university, or from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad. Generally, an applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (4.0=A scale) or the equivalent, in the last four semesters or six quarters of the undergraduate record and in all post-baccalaureate work.

2017 Marie Curie Actions PhD Fellowships for International Applicants at University of Macerata, Italy

Applications are invited for Marie Curie actions PhD fellowships for International Applicants at University of Macerata (UNIMC). These fellowship projects are funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research & innovation program under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie – ITN, Industrial Doctorate (GA no. 766139).

The HEART research program aims for a personalized approach to mobile health coaching programs that involve the user and that are tailored to individual needs (putting the user at the HEART of the system).

The University of Macerata (UNIMC), founded in 1290, is the only university in Italy that focuses exclusively on Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH). University’s motto “Humanism that innovates” illustrates its mission: to contribute to the development of people and society through the added value that social and human sciences bring to the understanding of complex socio-economic and political issues, according to an interdisciplinary perspective.

Scholarship can be taken in Italy

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

Degree: Master degree or equivalent providing access to PhD programs. See attachment for required degree for each position. Applicants must not have a doctoral degree.

Language: English proficiency must be attested either through a previous English language diploma, or an internationally recognized proficiency test (at least C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages i.e. IELTS, IBT, TOEFL or Cambridge).

Career: When starting their contract (January 2018), selected researchers should be within the first four years of their research careers. This means being both within a four-year window following their most recent graduation and not having been awarded a prior doctoral degree so far.

Mobility: At the date of recruitment, the researcher must not have resided, or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of the hiring institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.

Application: Complete and timely submission exclusively via the HEART online application system. Documents submitted must be in English. If supporting documents (e.g. letters of academic references and scan of degree qualification) are not in English, they must be submitted together with a certified translation in English). Turkish Government Research Fellowships for International Students, 2017-2018

Applications are inviting for Turkish Government Research Fellowship Programme for the academic year 2017-2018. Applicants who are citizen of countries other than turkey are eligible to apply for this fellowship program

Research Fellowship Programme was established with the aim of encouraging international researchers and academics to do using common researchers with the in-field-faculty members from our country and develop scientific interaction between researchers.

Study Subject: Fellowship aims to encourage international researchers and academics to work with Turkish academics on collaborative researchers in Turkey and contribute to the development of the international scientific interaction between researchers.

Scholarship Award: The fellowship monthly cost is 3,000 TL. The fellowship does not include transportation, accommodation, and health insurance. It is recommended that the researchers, before coming to Turkey, arrange an accommodation, if possible, at the halls of residence at the university they will carry out their research.

Matsumae International Foundation aims to assist international students who require financial assistance with scholarship, specifically for overseas students.

The Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) is a non-governmental organization. Many donations have been kindly offered by enterprises and groups, most of the donors are individuals who are sympathetic to the founder’s ideals and maintain contributions to the fund from their limited incomes.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications. Overseas students who want to study in English or Japanese must prove their language proficiency if the language is not their native tongue. 70 Government of Canada Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships, 2017-2018

The Government of Canada offers Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship program for Canadian and foreign citizens. Up to 70 fellowships are awarded annually (a total of up to 140 awards are active at any time).

Citizenship and location of host institution

Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to apply with the following stipulations:

Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada may only hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at a Canadian institution,

Applicants who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and who obtained their PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree from a foreign university may only hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at a Canadian institution, and

Applicants who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and who obtained their PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree from a Canadian university may hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at either a Canadian institution or an institution outside of Canada.

The Banting PDF program previously had a limit of 25% on the number of awards granted to postdoctoral trainees for tenure abroad. This limit has been removed, effective as of the 2017-2018 competition.

Eligibility window for degree completion

Applicants to the 2017-18 Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program must fulfill or have fulfilled all degree requirements for a PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree:

between September 20, 2014 and September 30, 2018 (inclusively), and

before the start date of their award.

Applicants who have not fulfilled all requirements for their degree at the time of application must submit proof no later than October 15, 2018.

Allowable extensions to eligibility window

The window of eligibility can be extended by a cumulative maximum of two years if the applicant had their career interrupted for the following reasons:

Parental leave

Illness

Health-related family responsibilities

Mandatory military service

Additionally, for health professionals who have engaged in post-degree non-research related clinical training (e.g. residency) – the eligibility window can be extended by the duration of this training.

No other exceptions will be allowed.

Interruptions used to extend the eligibility window for degree completion must have occurred after the fulfillment of your degree requirements and before the application submission deadline.

Justification must be provided in Special circumstances.

“Fulfilled all requirements of the degree” refers to the date that the applicant completed all the steps required for obtaining their degree. Although these requirements may vary by institution and degree type, they normally include thesis defence corrections and thesis deposition. It is not the convocation date.

Host institution eligibility

Institutions eligible to host a Banting Fellow include Canadian and foreign universities, affiliated research hospitals, colleges and not-for-profit organizations with a strong research mandate and capacity.Canadian governments (federal, provincial and municipal) and all for-profit organizations are not eligible to participate as host institutions.Please contact the Vanier-Banting Secretariat with any questions regarding institutional eligibility well in advance of the submission deadline. Other eligibility restrictions

Applicants who currently hold or have held agency-specific (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) awards at the postdoctoral level are eligible to apply to the 2017-18 Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program only if the term of that funding officially ends on or before September 30, 2018 and prior to the start of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. Early termination of the agency-specific postdoctoral award for the purpose of application to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is not permitted.

Applicants can apply for both the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program and other agency-specific postdoctoral fellowships programs (whether to the same or a different federal granting agency) at the same time, provided that the research proposed in each application falls within the mandate of the federal granting agency to which the application is submitted. *Applicants who are successful in both competitions will have to choose which award to accept.

Applicants must not hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position, nor can they be on leave from such a position.

Only in exceptionally rare circumstances will a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship be awarded to an applicant who is staying at the same institution or within the same research environment where they completed their PhD, PhD– equivalent or health professional degree. If an applicant chooses to apply in collaboration with the same institution (or its affiliated hospitals, research centres and other laboratories or within the same research environment) at which they obtained their PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree, a solid justification must be provided in Special circumstances.

Applicants can submit only one application per competition year to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program.

Without exception, Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships:

are tenable only at the institution which supported the original application for the program

must be taken up no earlier than April 1st and no later than October 1st following the year of application

are for two years

can only be held once in a lifetime

Nationality: Canadian and foreign citizens can apply for these Banting Postdoctoral fellowships.

Call for Applications: UN Human Rights Fellowship Programme 2017

The Fellowship Programme for People of African Descent provides the participants with an intensive learning opportunity to deepen their understanding of the United Nations human rights system, instruments and mechanisms, with a focus on issues of particular relevance to people of African descent. The Fellowship Programme will allow the participants to better contribute to the protection and promotion of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of people of African descent in their respective countries.

In the framework of the Programme of Activities for the Implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent, this year the Fellowship will be held from 13 November to 1 December 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Endeavour Research Fellowship for International Applicants, 2018

Australian Government is inviting applications for Endeavour Research Fellowship available for Australian and non-Australian students. The fellowship is available to undertake study, research or professional development overseas and for overseas citizens to do the same in Australia.

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships aim to build Australia’s reputation for excellence in the provision of education and research, support the internationalisation of the Australian higher education and research sectors and offer high-achieving individuals from overseas and Australia opportunities to increase their productivity and expertise in their field.

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are the Australian Government’s competitive, merit-based scholarships and fellowships providing opportunities for Australians to undertake study, research or professional development overseas and for overseas citizens to do the same in Australia.

IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no individual band less than 6.0.

Course Level: The Endeavour Research Fellowship provides financial support for international postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term research (4-6 months) towards an overseas Masters, PhD or postdoctoral research in any field in Australia, and for Australian postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term research (4-6 months) towards an Australian Masters, PhD or postdoctoral research.

UN-OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship Programme 2018

Description

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking applications for its Indigenous Fellowship Programme (IFP) 2018, a comprehensive human rights training programme that was established by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the context of the first International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (1995-2004).

The programme contributes to build the capacity and expertise of indigenous representatives on the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights in general and indigenous issues in particular, so they are in a better position to protect and promote the rights of their communities at the international level.

The aim of the programme is to give indigenous persons the opportunity to gain knowledge on the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights issues in general and indigenous issues in particular. The IFP is held annually and fellows from the 4 language components of the programme are trained together with simultaneous interpretation during 4 to 5 weeks in Geneva.

Fellowship

Participants of the Fellowship Programme are entitled to the following:

Return ticket (economy class) from their country of residence to Geneva;

Daily or monthly stipend to cover their basic needs in Geneva, including modest accommodation, food and transport;

Basic health insurance for the duration of the Programme;

OHCHR will not cover any additional expenses such as visa fees and travel insurance.

Formal education should not be a limitation to participation in the IFP given the socio-economic barriers confronted by many indigenous peoples that limit access to formal educational institutions;

Candidates should agree to train other indigenous persons after the return to their respective communities/organizations;

The candidate should be proposed and his/her candidacy supported by his/her indigenous organization and/or community. It is desirable that the sponsoring organization has a firm constituency or membership and that it is representative;

The candidate should have a good working knowledge of the language, in which the programme is imparted.
