Description
The
International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is an
intergovernmental agency forming part of the World Health Organization of the
United Nations.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of
World Health Organization is offering postdoctoral fellowships which are
open to candidates from any country. These fellowships are intended for early
career scientists wishing to complete their training in those aspects of cancer
research related to the Agency’s mission.
IARC is particularly keen to promote the development of
expertise in cancer research in low- and middle-income countries by
training postdoctoral researchers from these countries who can return to apply
their new skills and expertise.
The working languages at IARC are English and French.
Eligibility
Early career scientists wishing to complete their training
in those aspects of cancer research related to the Agency’s mission.
Disciplines covered are: epidemiology (all disciplines included),
biostatistics, bioinformatics, and areas related to, mechanisms of
carcinogenesis including molecular and cell biology, molecular genetics,
epigenetics, and molecular pathology.
Interdisciplinary project are encouraged.
Candidates must be proficient in English at a level
sufficient for scientific communication.
Fellowship
The annual stipend is currently EUR 33,000 and will be paid
monthly in advance. Stipends are not considered as a substitute for any salary
paid to a Fellow at home.
