COMMUNICATIONS TRAINEE

FACE is looking for a motivated Communications trainee to join its team in Brussels. This role offers the opportunity to learn about all aspects of communications for an environmental NGO operating at EU-level. We’re looking for someone who is a self-starter, reliable and willing to learn. The ideal candidate should have first experience in international communications. He or she should be passionate about the work we do at FACE and willing to work hard to increase our reach and awareness. He or she should be well versed in social media and website management.

OFID Scholarship Award for Developing Countries Students, 2016-2017

OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is funding scholarship for students of developing countries (except OFID Member Countries). Scholarship is awarded for pursuing graduate studies in a development-related discipline.

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) is the development finance institution established by the Member States of OPEC as a collective channel of aid to the developing countries. OFID works in cooperation with developing country partners and the international donor community to stimulate economic growth and alleviate poverty in all disadvantaged regions of the world.

Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies.

Principal’s Career Development PhD Scholarships in UK, 2016-2017

University of Edinburgh offers 45 Principal’s Career Development PhD scholarships for UK/EU and international students in the 2016-2017 academic session. Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD studies at University of Edinburgh.

University offers a number of general and subject-specific funding schemes. The aim of the scholarships is to attract the best and most motivated people to Edinburgh.

The University of Edinburgh is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities. The university’s mission is the creation, dissemination and curation of knowledge.

All students of every nationality are required to prove their English language competence. Even native-speakers of English must demonstrate that they meet our minimum language requirements to gain entry to the university. Eligibility: The specific requirements are as follows:
-The awards are open to UK, EU and overseas students applying to start their first year of study for a research degree in 2016-2017. Award applicants should contact the School with whom they intend to study before applying for the award to ascertain whether the funding is available for the discipline involved.
-Applicants must have already applied for admission to a full-time PhD research programme of study at the University. Applicants intending to study a part-time PhD research programme will only be considered for the scholarship if they have the approval of the School they wish to study with.
-Candidates are required to have good English Language skills with scholarship applicants normally requiring a minimum IELTS of 7.0 achieved within the past two years. Please note that scholarship application will not be considered if student’s IELTS results are not known to the University.
-Please also note that if they have applied for consecutive registration where they will start their master’s programme of study in 2016 and PhD the following year in 2017, that they will not be eligible to apply for a Principal’s Career Development Scholarship in 2016. Principal’s awards cannot be held concurrently with fully-funded scholarships but can be held with partial awards such as the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Intern to work in World Animal Protection’s busy Brussels office for a minimum of 4 months.

You’ll be supporting our two lobbyist professionals, helping support our regional and international programme priorities. The main purpose of the role is to raise the profile of World Animal Protection’s Brussels office in online communications and social media. Since the main tasks will involve a combination of writing, editing, analysis and research, we’re looking for someone experienced in the field of Communication and Media Studies, Journalism, Visual Arts and Design, or similar;

Key tasks are   

Assisting in implementing communication strategies to promote the vision, mission and strategic goals of the organization

Assist in translating policy, programmes and other research tools into communications materials;

Assisting and supporting logistics: helping the project team in organization of events, round tables, conferences, workshops and other various events;

Helping prepare a diverse range of information communications products (reporting brochures, audio-visual and events materials);

Helping plan events, creating databases, sending newsletters, etc. ;

Assisting in production of reports (including presentations);

Assisting in data verification and performing specific research;

Attending meetings with managers and drafting meeting minutes;

Assisting in all office administration and clerical work.

MEP Ana-Claudia Tapardel is a Romanian S&D member of the Transport and Tourism Committee, Constitutional Affairs Committee and the Budget Committee in the European Parliament. Paid traineeship opportunity for journalists

Deadline: 26 February 2016

The Communications Service of the European University Institute, based in Florence (Italy) is looking for one journalist to carry out the following daily tasks:

 Write and report on EUI academic activities and EUI special events;

 Assist the EUI web team in the development of online media content, including online advertising campaigns and social media;

 Monitor international media;

 Edit a range of texts by Institute staff, including webpages, official announcements and internal reports;

 Assist in project management and websites run by the Communications Service;

 Occasional photography and involvement in producing videos and podcasts.

The duration of the traineeship is 12 months. The first three months of which constitute a trial period. Full time (Monday to Friday).

From May 2016 to May 2017 Conditions for Eligibility Candidates must:

A) Be nationals of a European Union member state, or of a candidate country which benefits from a pre-accession strategy (nationals of non-member states may be accepted depending on resources available);

AND;

B) Are studying for a first (post-secondary education) degree and are in the process of obtaining the qualification; OR
C) Are involved in a vocational training programme; OR
D) Have obtained the above (B or C) qualification, no longer than 18 months prior to the beginning of the traineeship;

AND;

E) Have a thorough knowledge of English (native speaker or equivalent certified level, C2). Knowledge of another European language may be an advantage but this is not a requirement (it should be taken into account that English, French and Italian are the main working languages at the EUI).

Applicants with a degree in journalism and/or proven work experience in the field of journalism are especially encouraged to apply;
