The European Youth Forum (YFJ) is recruiting an intern for 6 months, starting in mid-January 2013, in the Communications Team within the Secretary-General’s Office of the organisation.

The internship is full time based at the European Youth Forum secretariat in Brussels. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with the Communications Team and the Policy Development and Advocacy Department. The European Youth Forum believes in quality on-the-job learning opportunities and this internship is in line with the European Charter for Quality Internships and Apprenticeships (www.qualityinternships.eu).

The European Youth Forum is the representative Platform of 99 National Youth Councils and International Non Governmental Youth Organisations from across Europe and works for the benefit of all young people in Europe.

TASKS

• Policy Monitoring: support the monitoring of the institutional development of youth policy already done within the European Youth Forum, according to its strategic priorities: Education, Participation, and Youth Mainstreaming, Human Rights, Youth Work Development, Employment and Social Affairs. The monitoring will be done through the screening of institutional communication channels (EU institutions, Council of Europe, United Nations) and major European media;
• Communication: Drafting of a periodical public bulletin, the European 'Youth Policy Watch’, which includes the results of the institutional monitoring. Writing articles and news items for the publications of the Youth Forum and any other needs within the communication team to support the general advocacy of the Forum.

PROFILE OF APPLICANTS

• Academic background in political science, social sciences, journalism, communication, law or equivalent;
• Interest in youth policy and knowledge of some basis of the European and global landscape of youth policy;
• Available for six months, full-time, starting in mid-July 2013;
• The selected candidate will preferably be at her/his first internship experience or not have more than one previous internship experience outside of studies.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Drafting and editing skills for texts targeting external audiences;
• Able to research, collate, analyse and summarise information;
• Policy analysis skills;
• Capacity to work with people from different social and cultural backgrounds;
• Excellent written and oral skills in English, and preferably in French;
• Computer literate (European Youth Forum uses Mac OS and Open Source softwares); knowledge of graphic software is a plus.

WHAT THE EUROPEAN YOUTH FORUM OFFERS

• An interesting and challenging period of work experience in a major Brussels-based NGO, with the opportunity to gain specific knowledge on communication and advocacy related to youth policy, education, social affairs, sustainable development, etc.;

The Business School Postgraduate Bursary has been developed to financially assist new postgraduate students enrolling in certain programs within the School of Business. The bursary will be assessed on a variety of factors including contribution to the community.  

Benefits:

2014 IWC Full Master’s Scholarships, Australia

Each year, The International Water Centre (IWC) offers full master’s scholarships for Australian and international students. Several scholarships will be awarded for enrolling in the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) program at University of Queensland or University of Western Australia commencing in Semester 1, 2014. The scholarships cover full-tuition (valued at AU$ 46,200) for full-time or part-time/distance study. 
About Scholarship: The International Water Centre (IWC) is offering full-tuition scholarships to candidates who are accepted in the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) commencing in Semester 1, 2014. Several scholarships will be awarded to applicants who clearly demonstrate potential to become water leaders of the future. 
Study: The Scholarships support students enrolled in the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) program.
Course Level: The scholarships are available for pursuing master degree at either The University of Queensland or The University of Western Australia.

FCH JU Traineeship FCHJU - Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking

The FCH JU operates a traineeship programme. The programme gives trainees an understanding of the FCH JU and its role within the activities of the European Union, enables them to acquire practical knowledge of the FCH JU and its regulatory framework and to obtain professional experience in the course of their work.

Successful candidates will have an academic background in economics, political science, engineering, technical studies such as environmental or energy studies or similar. Knowledge of the fuel cells and hydrogen technologies will be considered as an advantage. They will also have some professional or training experience in project management, administration, EU affairs (e.g. communication, IT, legal affairs, internal audit, finance, office management), acquired either in a public administration/academic institution or in the private sector. Trainees are selected from nationals of the Member States of the European Economic Area (the 27 Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
Minimum Requirements: 

• Possession of a university degree or equivalent at the time of applying; 
• An excellent command of oral and written English and one or more other official Union languages (French and /or German advantageous);
• A very good interpersonal, communication and team skills.

Grant: The FCH JU pays a monthly grant of 1 071,19 EUR in 2013 net per month and may pay a travel allowance to compensate the expenses incurred at the beginning and at the end of the traineeship from the place of residence, which is normally the address provided for correspondence.
