The University of Bradford is inviting applications for fully funded Archaeology Postgraduate Studentship for students starting their course in September 2017. The studentship is available to pursue postgraduate programme. The aim of the studentship is to provide funding to high-quality applicants. The University of Bristol (abbreviated as Bris. in post-nominal letters, sometimes referred to as Bristol University) is a red brick research university located in Bristol, United Kingdom. Bristol is organised into six academic faculties composed of multiple schools and departments running over 200 undergraduate courses largely situated in the Tyndalls Park area of the city.

Eligibility

To be considered for the studentship applicants must satisfy the following eligibility criteria, which include:

Minimum of an upper second-class honours degree or above;

The award is aligned to standard wording in the AHRC student funding guide. Students from EU countries other than the UK would be restricted to tuition fees only and no maintenance award. Non-EU students are not eligible for this funding;

The University of Bologna is pleased to offer the 33rd cycle of a PhD Scholarship programme for academic year 2017/2018. The University of Bologna, founded in 1088, was the first university and is the oldest in the world. It was the first place of study to use the term university for the corporations of students and masters which came to define the institution, located in Bologna, Italy. The PhD programmes will have a duration of three years, with the exception of the PhD programmes in “Data Science and Computation” and in “Management”, which will have a duration of four years.

Eligibility

Regardless of age and citizenship, applicants with the following academic qualifications can apply for admission:

An Italian university degree (laurea specialistica or magistrale – 3+2 years or combined degree Bachelor’s+ Master’s);

An Italian university degree obtained under the pre-reform system (“vecchio ordinamento”);

Any equivalent academic qualification issued abroad, recognised as equivalent to the above mentioned Italian academic qualifications, for the sole purpose of participation in the application for admission to the PhD programme.

Scholarship

The yearly gross amount of the scholarships is 13,600 EUR;

The yearly gross amount of the scholarships of the PhD Programme in Data Science and Computation is 19.367 EUR;

The scholarships are paid in monthly installments in arrears;

The amount of the scholarship is increased by 30% for the periods spent abroad authorized by the Academic Board;

This increase is not allowed for periods lasting less than one continuous month as well as for stays in the Country of birth, citizenship, residence or abode of the PhD candidate.

RSMFP Postgraduate Fellowships for Developing Students to Study Abroad, 2017-2018

World Bank is offering Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program for the students of a developing country. The programme provides 6-10 months of funding for full-time study or research at the postgraduate level in fields related to economic development, to be carried out at a recognized institution in a Bank member country other than the applicant’s home country.

The aim of the bank is to reach the best and brightest researchers and lecturers from the highest quality institutions and region’s universities, research centres and relevant professional networks.

RSMFP was established in 1982 with $2.8 million in funding from the World Bank and the governments of Bangladesh, China, India, Kuwait, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, and former Yugoslavia.

There are specific language requirements of each country and university so the student should go through these before applying.

Course Level: Fellowships are available to conduct PhD research in a World Bank member country other than their home country or country of residence.

Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded in fields related to economic development.

Scholarship Award: RSMFP provides up to $25,000 (U.S.) for developing country nationals to travel abroad to conduct development-related PhD research under the supervision of a host advisor at a university, research or development institution in a World Bank member country. The scholarship covers a 6 to 10 month period.

Each year, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funds Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, discretionary funding.

The aim of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.

At Cambridge, Scholars pursue the full range of subjects available at the University and are spread through its departments and Colleges.

Course Level: Gates Cambridge Scholarship is available to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree (PhD, MSc or MLitt or one-year postgraduate course) in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

Fieldwork – you may apply to keep up to your normal maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD.

Maternity/Paternity funding – should you require it, you may apply to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your maintenance allowance during this time

Each year, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funds Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, discretionary funding.

The aim of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.

At Cambridge, Scholars pursue the full range of subjects available at the University and are spread through its departments and Colleges.

Course Level: Gates Cambridge Scholarship is available to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree (PhD, MSc or MLitt or one-year postgraduate course) in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

Study Subject (s): Gates Cambridge Scholarship is awarded to study any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

Scholarship Award: A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, discretionary funding. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is one of the most generous international scholarships available. It covers the following costs:

Core components

the University Composition Fee at the appropriate rate*

a maintenance allowance for a single student (£14,600 for 12 months at the 2016-17 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months)

one economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course

inbound visa costs & associated NHS surcharge costs

Discretionary components

The Trust also considers applications for several types of additional funding on a discretionary basis:

Academic development funding – from £500 to £1,500, dependent on the length of your course, to attend conferences and courses.

Family allowance – up to £10,120 for a first child and up to £4,320 for a second child (2016-17 rate). No funding is provided for a partner.

Fieldwork – you may apply to keep up to your normal maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD.

Hardship funding – for unforeseen difficulties

Maternity/Paternity funding – should you require it, you may apply to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your maintenance allowance during this time

Some fourth year funding for PhD Scholars may be provided**

*The University Composition Fee varies for different types of students; applicants should see the Graduate Studies prospectus for full details about precise amounts. Where a student from the European Union has been successful in gaining a fees award from public authorities they must accept this and the Trust will not pay these fees.

** The PhD at Cambridge is a three-year degree and Gates Cambridge Scholars should take on a research project that they and their Supervisor think can be completed within three years.
