Austrian Development Cooperation ITH Scholarships for Developing Countries, 2017

The Austrian Development Cooperation offers two types of scholarships: scholarship for ADC’s priority countries and scholarship for other developing countries on a competitive basis. These scholarships are available for pursuing diploma in Hospitality Management or Tourism Management.

Limited number of competitive scholarships are offered every year by the Austrian Development Cooperation

The Tourism Schools Salzburg are vocational schools with an outstanding international reputation and a long tradition. They train future entrepreneurs and employees according to the needs of the international tourism and leisure industry.

An internationally recognized certificate proving the knowledge of English (TOEFL, Cambridge or equivalent) is required.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing diploma programmes.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Hospitality Management or Tourism Management.

Scholarship Award: The Austrian Development Cooperation offers about 30 scholarships – Scholarship for ADC Priority Countries – limited to applicants from priority countries: Includes tuition fee, health insurance, accommodation, travel costs, meals from Monday – Sunday plus pocket money of approx: € 205 per month.
Scholarship for Developing Countries: Includes tuition fee, health insurance, meals from Monday – Friday plus pocket money of approx: € 205 per month.
Not included: transportation costs, accommodation (€ 1976), meals during the weekends and holidays

Number of Scholarships: Limited number of scholarships are offered every year by the Austrian Development Cooperation.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: GCE-A’ Levels or equivalent, which enables enrollment at a university

At least 1 year experience in the hotel or tourism industry

All courses are conducted in English language, so an excellent command of English is absolutely necessary. An internationally recognized certificate proving the knowledge of English (TOEFL, Cambridge or equivalent) is required. If the student’s English language skills are not sufficient the Institute may decide whether he/she has to participate in extra English language course in Austria at his/her own expenses.

The University of Vienna is inviting applications for uni:docs fellowship programme. These fellowships are open to doctoral candidates of all disciplines.

The uni:docs fellowship programme is an individual scholarship which aims at financing excellent doctoral candidates for a period of three years.

The University of Vienna is a public university located in Vienna, Austria. It was founded by Duke Rudolph IV in 1365 and is one of the oldest universities in the German-speaking world.

Applicants need not necessarily already be enrolled as PhD candidates at the time of application.

Already enrolled applicants: If the applicant is already enrolled as a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, the admission has to have occurred no earlier than the summer semester 2015.

If funding for a duration of at least 2 years has been granted from elsewhere (e.g. ÖAW-DOC scholarship, or an employment at the university), then it is not possible to apply for the uni:docs scholarship.

The funding of part-time dissertations is not possible. Additional employment which is not clearly related to research is also not possible.

Applicants need a supervisor at the University of Vienna who is working in the field of the planned thesis and has to have at least a 50 percentage contract with the University of Vienna which lasts until end of September 2020. At the time of their application, applicants already have to be accepted by this supervisor as PhD candidate. The supervisor needs to fill out an online form (see application documents) to complete the application process.

Nationality: This doctoral fellowship programme is open to both Austrian and international candidates.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: The admission procedure depends on if the student completed their previous studies at the University of Vienna or at another university or a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule).

English Language Requirement: By the time of the application the TOEFL iBT or the IELTS Academic needs to be completed successfully. Partner universities in English-speaking countries do not accept any other language tests than TOEFL or IELTS as proof of English proficiency. Minimum scores

Akademie Schloss Solitude is granting Approx. 70 Residential Fellowships of 3-12 months in duration. More than 1.300 artists from more than 120 countries have developed and advanced projects at the Akademie since its opening in 1990, creating a close-knit, global network of Solitude alumni that expands from year to year.

AAI Scholarship Programme for Developing Countries Students in Austria, 2016

The Afro-Asian Institute Graz invites applications for scholarship programme which is co-financed with means from the Government of Styria, the City of Graz, church and private funds. This scholarship is available to the students of developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The Scholarship-Programme is directed at students from developing countries at Universities in Styria and is meant to contribute to the peaceful coexistence of people from different countries of origin by enhancing equal opportunities, dialogue, intercultural know-how and partnership.

The Scholarship-Programme contributes to the socially required production of knowledge and awareness, it promotes a global perspective and the creation of the globally educated citizen. It attaches a high significance to regional, international and trans-cultural networks.

Students must have demonstrated a high degree of assertiveness, creativity and mobility. Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Scholarship Award: Scholarship for Developing Countries Students are conceived as a comprehensive programme, which will comprise scholarships, study-accompanying measures and tutoring, study-accompanying training, supporting reintegration and follow up-contacts. Recipients of the scholarships are exempt from tuition fees. In addition to the scholarships, the AAI will also hand out general benefits (e.g. for learning aids, visa fees) and allowances for the costs of the university preparation programme to students in need from southern countries.

Eligibility: The Scholarship-Programme is directed at students from Africa, Asia and Latin America who are interested in development policy and who have come to Austria on their own initiatives, in order to complete their education. With their decision for studying abroad, the students have demonstrated a high degree of assertiveness, creativity and mobility. The scholarship will contribute to following up on the right of education also for those critical and intellectual young people who will find poor conditions in their home countries. These aspects will apply still more strongly to women. So scholarships will offer a chance making up for the ethnic, religious, social and regional discrimination, and in individual cases, also for violations of human rights. The scholarships are divided into:

Since the number of places in the DK-PI doctoral program is limited, there is an application and selection procedure for interested students which accounts for their academic and previous scientific achievements, and their expected potential for future research work. Since DK-PI doctoral students will have to be enrolled at one of the Vienna universities, they have to fulfill the criteria for doctoral studies of the two universities. For this they need in particular a completed Master (or equivalent) degree. In addition they should have very good English language skills. The DK-PI seeks to increase the percentage of women in physics and therefore specifically invites applications by women. Description

The LogiCS doctoral program is a PhD degree program funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF and run jointly by the three Austrian universities; Vienna University of Technology, Graz University of Technology and Johannes Kepler University Linz. In the years 2014-2018, the doctoral college will admit 30 PhD students. This program is aimed at highly motivated students who want to work in one of three fundamental fields of computer science:

Computational Logic: proof theory, computational complexity and automated deduction;

Databases / Artificial Intelligence: applications of logic to databases and artificial intelligence;

Verification: computer-aided verification, in particular model checking.

Eligibility

From countries all around the world; 

Holders of a MSc or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related fields, and an excellent record of study;

In exceptional cases outstanding students with excellent marks on their Bachelor’s degree can also be admitted;

Previous knowledge in the areas of the doctoral college (computational logic, databases/AI, verification) is desirable but not required;

10 of the positions are reserved for female applicants;

Non-native English speakers need to ensure that their English proficiency meets the doctoral program’s requirements to fully benefit from their courses;

 Applicants’ adequate command of the English language will also be assessed during the application interviews.

Scholarship

The doctoral students will be employed as a researcher at a yearly salary of EUR 20,047.38 after taxes and social/health insurance deductions (effective April 2014; the average Austrian salary over all age groups is EUR 20,596.00);

As for article 1 of the Austrian Data Protection Act, BGBl. What does it cover? The scholarships will include:

-The OeAD provides scholarship holders with accommodation (student dormitory or apartment). Monthly costs: 220 to 470 EUR (depending on the level of comfort requested by the scholarship holder). The scholarship holder has to pay an administrative fee of 18 EUR/month to the OeAD for the provision of accommodation. The costs for the accommodation have to be covered from the scholarship.
-Applicants from countries which are neither members of the EU nor members of EFTA, EEA or OECD can be granted a travel allowance of up to max. 500 EUR in addition to the scholarship.

– Where do you plan to carry out your project (library, archive, institute . . .)?
– academic background (since when are you already studying, which grades have you achieved) and list of publications or documents in regard to your artistic work so far.
