The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is
the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental
agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of
sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an
authoritative advocate for the global environment. This position is located in
the Secretariat of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management
(SAICM) and Secretariat of Special Programme, Chemicals and Waste Branch, Economy
Division, Geneva duty station.
Under the direct supervision of Muhammed Omotola, Associate
Programme Officer, SAICM Secretariat, Chemicals and Waste Branch, Economy
Division, United Nations Environment in Geneva, the intern will support the
development of the digital communication tools developed by the Interim
Secretariat of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, the Secretariat of the
Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), including the
Quick Start Programme (QSP) and the Secretariat of the Special Programme on
institutional strengthening, including assistance in:
The maintenance of the Minamata Convention, SAICM and
Special Programme websites, their continuous update, both in terms of design
and substantial content, and troubleshooting.
The production and editing of databases and audio-visual
contents, including online training tools such as webinars.
The development and maintenance of an online meeting
registration system for the Minamata Convention and SAICM.
The development and maintenance of an online system for the
submission of applications under the Special Programme.
The development and maintenance of the structure of a
database for projects funded under the SAICM QSP, which can also be adapted for
the Special Programme.
Promoting the visibility of the Minamata Convention, SAICM
and Special Programme on social media and digital platforms.
Other tasks as appropriate and as discussed with the intern.

Benefits
The UN Environment SAICM Secretariat internship is for 6
months.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours) under the
supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are
assigned.
Eligibilities
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the
following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
