The Relations Group team are so busy right now we
are drowning in radio, TV and online campaigns; we are looking to
recruit a few enthusiastic and creative interns to join our team for the
summer! Our paid internships adopt a hands-on approach allowing you to tip your
toes in a variety of tasks - the responsibilities range from liaising with the
media, generating ideas and research for large UK brands and researching
opportunities for future campaigns. You will also be writing blog posts and
using social media. Those paid interns that get results, are driven and
demonstrate a positive work ethic will be offered full-time employment within
the company as either a Junior Account Executive or a Media Executive!
The candidate should embody the following attributes:
Personality: You will need to stand out of the crowd
and put your personality in everything you do whether it is talking to clients,
the media or holding brainstorms with other colleagues.
A Natural Communicator: You will be spending a lot of
time talking to PR managers or potential clients and
marketing teams so the ability to be articulate and eloquent is very
important.
Phone Friendly: This is no place for anyone with a fear
of the phones, it is a busy environment and may require patching in on
conference calls, networking and building rapport to influence broadcast
journalists and radio presenters.
Enthusiasm: Since your role is to build
relationships and communicate new ideas you will need to be
enthusiastic - especially about your own ideas. We want someone who has a fresh
perspective and is creative and eager to learn and develop new skills.
Tenacious: In the early days you may spend lots of time
researching, generating leads or booking coverage and not all ideas and content
will generate interest, therefore you need to be adaptable and tenacious –
maintaining focus and drive.
Creativity: You will need to identify what makes a
story interesting for different radio presenters, brands, TV newsrooms or
websites. Identify the hook and make it relevant for their audience and your
ideas will turn into stories that will be broadcast to millions of people
throughout the UK - week in week out!
Calm Under-Pressure: This is a role where you need to influence
people every day! You will have targets and deadlines so if you are easily
stressed then please don't apply.
Research: You will be researching many brands and
relevant content ideas for campaigns; this involves a logical approach with an
inquisitive mindset.
Writing: There will be opportunities to write content
for the company websites, blog and media property platforms. You must have a
keen eye to detail and a fresh outlook.
As a growing agency we like to nurture exceptional talent.
Some of our best staff became full time employees after an initial internship.
As an intern you can expect to spend time in both our media department and our
client teams. You will see first-hand a radio day from start to finish, write
engaging blogs for our sites and social media, brainstorm ideas for upcoming
campaigns, the filming of a video podcast, be sent on a mission to record
B-Roll using a broadcast quality camera, need to research celebrity
spokespeople, brainstorm ideas for new clients as well as spend some time
trialling the role of a junior account executive and media liaison executive.
It will be a steep learning curve in the world of broadcast
PR with a genuine opportunity to impress to be offered a full-time
position. Please only apply if you have a good degree (2:1 or higher) and have
an interest in developing a career in PR or Marketing.
