Function: The European Central Bank (ECB) is a team of
teams working together to safeguard price stability and financial stability for

You will be part of the Directorate General Human Resources
(DG/HR), helping us to deliver on our vision: thrilled and talented people for
a prosperous Europe. In HR we are 100 colleagues providing services to 3,000 employees.
We are currently in a process of transformation, realigning our business to
focus on talent acquisition and management, leadership development, health and
well-being, and a more strategic business-partnering function. We are creating
a more agile, customer-centric HR function supported by well-designed people
analytics.
We are currently looking for trainees in a number of areas:
employer branding;
talent acquisition;
HR analytics and systems;
HR communications, diversity and inclusion;
employment relations;
talent and leadership development;
performance, mobility and career management;
support for HR initiatives across Europe;
strategic workforce planning;
health and well-being;
compensation and benefits;
pension services.
As a trainee you will work with the members of the team to
which you have been assigned on the team’s ongoing initiatives, thereby gaining
an insight into the work of HR and the functioning of the ECB. You will join
one of the three divisions of DG/HR and will be given
tasks that may include the following.
Business Partnering Division:
HR business partnering team – supporting a team of Business
Partners on people management issues through data analysis, reporting and
ad-hoc assignments;
Talent acquisition team – supporting recruitment processes
through data analysis, market research and benchmarking, and contributing to
employer branding initiatives e.g. by organising events and creating social
media content;
Staff relations and diversity management team – supporting
interaction with trade union and staff representatives, conducting market
research and benchmarking studies or surveys, creating and monitoring diversity
dashboards, analysing data, and preparing intranet content, newsletters,
presentations and reports.
Talent Management Division:
Performance, mobility and career management team – helping
to align individual career aspirations with the ECB’s strategic objectives and
needs by contributing to the design and implementation of policies and services
according to best practice
Talent and leadership development team – enhancing the ECB’s
talent development framework, by contributing to the design and implementation
of strategic workforce planning, supporting blended learning and helping to set
up/enhance specific talent development programmes;
Support team for HR initiatives across Europe – contributing
to joint training and development initiatives of the ECB and the national
central banks and national competent authorities.
Employee Services Division:
Health services team – contributing to the development and
implementation of corporate health policies and events, assisting in the
development of health communications and educational material, and supporting
the administration of ECB social security schemes;
HR operations, systems and analytics team – contributing to
the digitalisation and automation of HR processes, assisting with the design,
testing and implementation phases of SAP-related projects, analysing HR-related
statistical data, and carrying out qualitative and quantitative research in the
areas of salaries, benefits and pensions.
Qualifications and experience: You will bring to the role:
a bachelor’s degree or higher, with a specialisation
relevant to the work of the DG/HR teams, in one of the following fields: human
resources management, business administration, employment/industrial relations,
social and organisational psychology, law (preferably EU employment and social
security law), business information systems, or another relevant discipline;
an advanced command of English and a good knowledge of at
least one other official language of the EU;
a very good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint or
similar software;
knowledge of, and ideally initial practical experience in,
one or more of the following areas:
business intelligence;
diversity management;
employee engagement;
HR/internal communications;
employment relations;
learning and development;
organisational culture;
performance, mobility and career management;
recruitment;
payroll;
corporate health management;
social security;
for traineeships in some teams, knowledge of enterprise
resource planning applications such as SAP (HR modules) or of software
applications such as MS Project will be considered an asset.
Competencies: You will also bring your ability to
deliver results, collaborate well with colleagues, communicate clearly and
effectively, gather and analyse information (including numerical and
non-numerical data), prioritise tasks and pay attention to detail, act in a
service-oriented manner, thrive in an environment of diverse people and ideas,
and respond to change in an agile manner.
Further Information: Traineeship of three to six months,
with the possibility of an extension to up to twelve months in total in the
same or other business areas.
