Internship - Professional EU Law Training

The Academy of European Law is the leading partner of the European institutions, national administrations and professional associations in the field of continuing professional education in European law. With the support of the European Union, our team including a dozen lawyers from various EU member states organises over a hundred training courses every year across Europe. ERA’s working languages are English, French and German. Its headquarters are in the city of Trier in Germany, about 50 km from Luxembourg.

We invite applications from persons involved in the provision of professional legal training at national or regional level for an Internship focused on professional EU law training.

The intern will assist with the organisation of face-to-face and online professional training activities for judges, lawyers and other legal practitioners on European Union law. The intern will be seconded to one or more of ERA’s thematic programme sections and report to the Director and management team.

The successful candidate will be involved in the provision of continuous training to members of one of the legal professions in their home country. A basic understanding of how the European Union works is essential. Knowledge in at least in at least two of ERA’s working languages (English, French and German) will be essential. The successful candidate will be computer literate. He/she will be able to work independently but also to show a strong sense of team spirit. He/she will be able to adapt easily to living and working in an international environment.

The internship will be accompanied by a stipend provided by the ERA Jubilee Fund, an initiative of the Friends of ERA Association launched in 2012 to widen access to EU law training. The amount of the stipend will be determined in light of the successful candidate’s professional and financial situation.

The duration of the internship is between three and six months, depending on the successful candidate’s availability.

If you feel attracted by the idea of working in a genuine European team and promoting European law among European lawyers, please send us your CV and a motivation letter by e-mail in one of the Academy’s working languages to:
