Background
The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) has been created
to foster and encourage democratisation and deep and sustainable democracy in
countries in political transition and in societies struggling for
democratisation. It is an independent private law foundation with its seat in
Brussels. Its geographic mandate is focused on 15 countries in the
European neighbourhood.
Traineeships
The EED is launching a call for trainees. During their time
at EED, the trainees will assist EED Secretariat staff with technical
assistance and operational support.
In particular EED is looking for trainees with the following
specific expertise for the period September 2015 – February 2016:
Southern Neighbourhood Programme
Support - Detailed awareness of civil society sectors and the political
context in the Southern neighbourhood, with strong, preferably fluent, Arabic
Language skills.
Eastern Neighbourhood Programme
Support - Detailed awareness of civil society sectors and the political
context in the Eastern neighbourhood, with strong, preferably fluent, Russian
Language skills.
Grant Reporting Support -
Experience in detailed assessment of financial reports, based on understanding
of grant-making and monitoring and evaluation. Arabic and Russian Language
skills a distinct advantage.
Citizenship of an EU Member State or residency in the
European Union is a requirement.

Terms and Salary
Preferred contractual relations with the Junior Consultants
is a Convention d'immersion professionnelle (a professional immersion
agreement under Belgian Law). Expected level of monthly consultancy fee up to
€1,300 per month.
