Within Toyota’s European Headquarters (Brussels), the intern will fully take part in activities of the European & Government Affairs division (EGA) and, in particular, be in charge of a project aiming at further improving the company’s External Affairs capacities throughout its 56 markets in Europe.
1. The intern’s project: (approx. 60% of total assignment)
Starting date : ideally in April 2013
Duration : ideally 12 months, minimum 6 months, full-time

- Contribute to the assessment of Toyota’s current External Affairs capacities across Europe, by creating and using appropriate processes and tools
- Establish, maintain and improve contacts with internal counterparts throughout Europe, to collect selected, accurate and useful information - Analyse the information collected and report results to management
- Aim to define directions for future government affairs support activities towards European markets and implement where possible.
- Contribute to the monitoring of and reporting on EU initiatives of interest to the automotive sector.
- When appropriate, attend events and meeting of relevant institutions and organisations (EU Parliament, EU Commission, Think-tanks, NGOs, etc.)
- Provide support to overall operation of the team: organisation of events, creation of working documents, contact management, administration, etc.
- Student in last year of master study in Government & Public Affairs, European studies or similar
- Good understanding of the EU decision-making process
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and evolve in an international environment
- A diplomatic mindset and high ethical standards
- An ability to work in a team as well as autonomously
- Proficiency in English, knowledge of other languages is a clear asset
- A previous experience in a EU institution is an asset.
- First-hand experience of the Brussels public affairs environment
- A training in the working style and requirements of government affairs functions of a large multinational company
- The opportunity to be involved in interesting, hands-on projects
- Good team atmosphere in a multinational environment
