The Ph.D. is awarded after three years of full-time research on the basis of a dissertation which should present the results of an original piece of research. Examination for the Ph.D. involves an oral examination (viva) by a Board of Experts;

PhD Scholarships in Risk & Emergency Management

Description

Up to eleven PhD scholarships will be offered by UME Graduate School in Italy. International students can apply for these PhD scholarships. UME Graduate School’s main objective is to provide high quality, comprehensive educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students. The new Masters and PhD Programmes in Risk and Emergency Management (REM) aim to train graduates and professionals in the assessment, mitigation and management of extreme events (both before and after they occur), with a primary focus on those arising from natural hazards and a secondary focus on human-made, technological and biomedical risk.

Eligibility

International students;

The minimum requirement to apply for the REM Programme is a University Degree, preferably in Engineering, Geophysics, Physics, Economics or similar, that allows the candidate to be enrolled in a PhD programme in the country it was obtained;

Adequate proficiency of English language (a score of at least 88 (internet-based exam), 230 (computer-based exam), 570 (paper-based exam) in the TOEFL test; a score of 6 or more obtained with IELTS; a degree obtained in an English speaking environment).

Scholarship

Candidates admitted to the UME School are generally awarded a doctoral scholarship worth about EUR 1,000 net per month;

The duration of the scholarship is 36 months and can be increased by up to 50% during periods abroad;

The scholarship is sufficient for covering all general living and accommodation expenses.

MMU Vice-Chancellor Scholarships for International Students in UK, 2016-2017

Manchester Metropolitan University is offering a number of Vice-Chancellor scholarships for international students. The scholarships are available for pursuing full-time undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes at MMU.

The aim of the MMU Vice-Chancellor Scholarships are to enable and encourage academically able students from any nationality.

Manchester Metropolitan University was awarded university status in 1992 and is part of the largest higher education campus in the UK and one of the most extensive education centres in Europe.

Internship Opportunity - ICC Banking Commission

Advocacy & Communication Intern

Overview and Mission

The European Brain Council (EBC) is a non-profit organisation gathering patient associations, major brain-related societies as well as industries while working in close partnership with the European Parliament and Commission, national governments as well as other policy making bodies. Established in March 2002, its mission is to promote brain research in order to improve the quality of life of those living with brain disorders in Europe.

Organisation

EBC is currently looking for an intern who can reinforce EBC’s Communications & Advocacy activities. EBC is offering a six month internship at the EBC Executive Office in Brussels, starting as soon as possible. The internship offers an exceptional opportunity for an individual to be part of a dynamic international organisation in the Brussels environment, where the intern will also get experience of working with EU institutions.

Main responsibilities

Communication (50%)

Ensuring the implementation of EBC’s Communication Strategy

Updating and publishing website content;

Attending and reporting on meetings at the EU institutions as well as other relevant internal and external events

Administrating and developing EBC’s social media accounts and campaign metrics;

Coordinating distribution of EBC’s projects & activities

Managing EBC’s social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube)

Managing EBC stakeholder database; assisting in media outreach;

Assist with production and distribution of communications tools and merchandise to key stakeholders, such as EBC’s Newsletter and External Environment Report.

Advocacy (50%)

Researching on various topics (e.g. EU legislative proposals and relevant EU projects);

Preparation of information for High-Level meetings;

Assist with the organisation’s event management;

Update internal documents, website, database and support with general administrative and organisational tasks;

Assist with production and distribution of advocacy tools and merchandise to key stakeholders.

Other

Provide further assistance as required to the Executive Director of EBC and other members of staff; undertake special projects.

Qualifications

The candidate should have:

EU nationality and/or have a right to live and work in Belgium without a work permit.

Possess a relevant Bachelor degree, such as Communications, Political Science or equivalent;

An understanding of the not-for-profit sector;

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;

Office experience

Team-working skills, proactive and flexible;

Be able to multi-task and have strong organisational skills;

Highly computer literate; familiar with web content management systems, social media and Microsoft Office;

An operational knowledge of Internet tools, and/or elements of design and basic knowledge of publishing softwares, particularly previous experience with WordPress and Mailchimp, are all considered an asset.

Additional information

The successful candidate will receive a fixed salary package on a monthly basis.

Accommodation and travel to Belgium are not covered.

The intern will work full-time (38 hours per week).

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme

Description

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The core mission of the programme is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students; currently 41 sending partners are engaged in the programme.

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available for bachelor, master, one-tier master, doctoral and non-degree programmes (preparatory and specialisation courses). Both full time and part time study modes are available in case of bachelor, master, one-tier master and doctoral studies.

Thousands of students from all around the world apply for higher educational studies in Hungary each year. In the academic year 2016/2017 approximately 3000 students can begin their studies in Hungary in the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme.

The Programme is managed by Tempus Public Foundation.

Eligibility

The Stipendium Hungaricum Programme is based on effective bilateral educational cooperation agreements between the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary and the partner’s Ministry responsible for higher education. Applications will be considered eligible if the applicant is nominated by the responsible authorities of the sending partner. These are eligible countries.

Non-eligible

Applications will not be considered in the following cases:

Hungarian citizens (including those with dual citizenships);

Former Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders, who are re-applying for studies in the same cycle of education (e.g. bachelor, master, doctoral).

Scholarship

Tuition-free education: exemption from the payment of tuition fee;

Monthly stipend:

Non-degree, bachelor, master and one-tier master level: monthly HUF 40,460 (cca EUR 130) contribution to the living expenses, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies;

Doctoral level: according to the current Hungarian legislation, it is monthly HUF 100,000 (cca EUR 325) at present – for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies – but the legislation is to be changed, consequently the amount is expected to be raised.

Accommodation:

Dormitory place or a monthly contribution of HUF 30,000 to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period;

Medical insurance:

Health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act No. 80 of 1997, national health insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance.
