Harvard University: Knight Visiting Nieman Fellowships 2018 in U.S.A.

The Knight Visiting Nieman Fellowships at Harvard offer short-term research opportunities to individuals interested in working on special projects designed to advance journalism in some new way. Candidates need not be practising journalists but must demonstrate the ways in which their work at Harvard and the Nieman Foundation may improve the prospects for journalism’s future. This may be related to research, programming, design, financial strategies or another topic.

A Nieman Fellowship is an extraordinary, transformative learning opportunity open to journalists working in all media in every country around the world. Those selected for the program spend two full semesters at Harvard auditing classes with some of the university’s greatest thinkers, participating in Nieman events and collaborating with peers. Nieman Fellows are also able to audit classes at other local universities including MIT and Tufts.

We are excited to announce that the 2018-2019 competition for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is now open! The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers teaching, research and combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries for the 2018-2019 academic year. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others.

Fulbright Global Scholar Award
The Fulbright Global Scholar Award provides support for U.S. academics and professionals to engage in multi-country, trans-regional projects. As a truly worldwide award, U.S. scholars will be able to propose research or combined teaching/research activity in two to three countries with flexible schedule options; trips can be conducted within one academic year or spread over two consecutive years. The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in USA

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). This international educational and cultural exchange program brings future leaders to the United States to experience the U.S. educational system, enhance their knowledge, and explore U.S. culture and values. It also affords students the opportunity to share their cultures and traditions with people in the United States. Global UGRAD is administered by World Learning on behalf of ECA.

Global UGRAD will provide a select group of approximately 250 students with scholarships for one academic semester of undergraduate, non-degree study in the United States.

Eligibility

Over 18 years of age;

A citizen of a UGRAD participating country, currently residing in that country;

Enrolled as an undergraduate in good standing at any accredited university, public or private, and has at least one semester remaining at their home university at the conclusion of the UGRAD program;

The Competitive Enterprise Institute is a non-profit public policy organization dedicated to advancing the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty. The mission is to promote both freedom and fairness by making good policy good politics. They make the uncompromising case for economic freedom because they believe it is essential for entrepreneurship, innovation, and prosperity to flourish.

The CEI intern program seeks to help interested undergraduates, recent college graduates, and graduate students learn about the ideas of liberty and help to promote them by pairing them with a member of CEI’s policy, development, media, or administrative staff. 

Policy interns are assigned to work with one or two policy analysts for the duration of their internship. Interns have the opportunity to research important policy issues and are expected to have strong writing, research, and analytical skills. The cover letter should detail what the student wants to gain from an internship at CEI.

Interns participate in public policy research in one of CEI many issue areas. In addition to policy research, CEI offers internships in communications, video, development, operations, and Web and IT.

Eligibility

Remuneration

CEI offers both paid and unpaid internships. Upon being interviewed, exceptional applicants may be offered a stipend. Internships for which the student receives academic credit are always unpaid;

Harvard University Full Fellowships Program

The Department of Archaeogenetics at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena, Germany, and the Initiative for the Science of the Human Pastat Harvard University are launching a collaborative program that, at Harvard, draws on the Departments of Anthropology (Archaeology Program), History, Human Evolutionary Biology, and Organismic and Evolutionary Biology within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School.

The new program is a long-term cross-disciplinary collaboration involving these various departments at MPI and Harvard’s FAS and HMS, as well as other interested scholars and scientists at Harvard University. In the framework of its multi-disciplinary investigation of the Ancient Mediterranean, the Max Planck Harvard project announce up to three 5-year Full Fellowships in Biological Archaeology / Archaeometry and Archaeogenetics to sponsor graduate study leading to a PhD in Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The first fellowship(s) will be available to students admitted by Harvard for the academic year 2017-2018.

Eligibility

Recent Bachelor or Master’s degree holders with an excellent record and research experience in two or more of the fields of Biological Archaeology / Archaeometry and Archaeogenetics.

Fellowship

Funding will be granted to doctoral candidates for the entire duration of their PhD;

Satisfactory fulfillment of all research and other requirements will lead to a doctoral degree awarded by Harvard University;

The program ordinarily includes two years of coursework at Harvard and fulfillment of the standard requirements for the PhD in the relevant Departments of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Harvard University, where candidates will acquire expertise in the topics and methods covered by the Max Planck Harvard project;

After this period, doctoral students will ordinarily conduct substantial research for their PhD at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena, Germany.
