Description

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent EU body set up in 2008 which enhances Europe’s ability to innovate by nurturing entrepreneurial talent and supporting new ideas. The EIT is launching a call for application for its traineeship programme lasting a minimum of  three and a maximum of five months. The trainee will support the daily operations of the Policy  and Communications Unit at the EIT.  The place of employment will be Budapest, where the EIT Headquarters are located. The tasks of the trainee will include:

Preparing presentations and visual aids for print and digital use;

Monitoring of EU daily news, press reviews and EU institutional websites;

Providing relevant background information through desktop research;

Drafting briefings, articles and reports;

Support the organisation of meetings and conferences;

Managing contact databases (updating data, classification and research of relevant new contacts).

Eligibility

Trainees are selected from nationals of the Member States of the European Union (EU), the Member States of the European Economic Area (EEA), the European Free Trade Area (EFTA), from candidate countries (Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey) and from the United States of America, Japan, South Korea and the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). Candidates must have completed, by the closing date for applications, the first cycle of university education and obtained a full degree or its equivalent. In order to fully benefit from the traineeship and to be able to follow meetings and perform adequately:

Candidates from EU Member States must have very good knowledge of English and another EU official language;

Candidates from EEA/EFTA Member States, candidate countries and from the USA, Japan, South Korea and the BRICS countries must have very good knowledge of English, the working language of the EIT.

Remuneration

Trainees will be awarded a monthly grant. The net amount of the grant is, as of 1 January 2015, 782.61 EUR. Recruited trainees will get reimbursed the travel expenses incurred at the beginning and at the end of the traineeship. The trainee must complete a minimum of three months of the traineeship period to qualify for the travel allowance.

Description

OpenForum Europe (OFE) is a not-for-profit industry organization which was originally launched in 2002 to accelerate and broaden the use of Open Source Software (OSS) among businesses, consumers and governments. OFE’s role has since evolved and its primary role now is to promote the use of open standards in ICT as a means of achieving full openness and interoperability of computer systems throughout Europe. It continues to promote open source software, as well as openness more generally as part of a vision to facilitate open, competitive choice for IT users. OFE is supported by major IT suppliers (including RedHat, Google, IBM, Oracle), user and consumer organisations, and national partners, together representing thousands of individual companies across Europe. The intern will be working directly with OFE staff in the Brussels office. The responsibilities are determined by the interns interests and can include:

Monitoring EU policy developments and alerting OFE’s network on relevant issues;

Help in preparing and organising events and meetings with the community and policy makers;

Help in preparing communication material for the website (press releases, white papers, policy statements) and social media;

General office administration.

The internship begins in September 2015 with a duration of 3 months (extendable to 6 months).

Eligibility

Applicants should meet following requirements:

Some understanding of the EU decision making process;

Demonstrable interest in the open-source software movement and in the IT industry;

Fluent level of written and spoken English; other EU languages considered as an asset;

Self starter, reliable, able to multi-task and prioritize own work;

Good interpersonal and team-working skills;

Computer and web literacy (in particular experience with social media, blogging, HTML/CSS, desktop publishing tool are considered a plus, but not required).

Remuneration

UNIL Masters Grants for International Students in Switzerland, 2016-2017

DAAD Research Grants for Foreign Doctoral Students in Germany, 2016

Applications are invited for DAAD research grants available for young foreign academics and scientists with an opportunity to carry out research and continue their education in Germany. Scholarship Description: DAAD research grants provide young foreign academics and scientists with an opportunity to carry out research and continue their education in Germany. There are funding programmes for various qualification phases and stages in a career. The grants also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

Duration of award(s): Usually a maximum of three years, in exceptional cases up to four years; the length of the grant is decided by a selection committee and depends on the project in question and the applicant’s work schedule. Grants are initially awarded for a maximum of one year. Extensions depend on whether the selection committee considers the previous award period to have been successfully completed. For doctoral projects in Germany that require several years of research, research phases outside Germany can be supported if these are critical for the successful completion of the doctoral degree. Planned stays must be specified in the application in the work and time schedule and should not exceed a quarter of the anticipated total funding period.

What does it cover?

-if necessary: Language course (2, 4 or 6 months) before the start of the research stay; the DAAD decides whether to fund the grant holder’s participation and for how long depending on language skills and project. If a language course scholarship is granted and the working language at the host institute is German, participation is compulsory.
-Allowance for a personally chosen German language course during the grant period
-Reimbursement of the fees for the TestDaF test which has either been taken in the home country after receipt of the Scholarship Award Letter or in Germany before the end of the funding period.

The ECF’s Transport Team develops and supports initiatives to reduce the climate impact of vehicles and fuels. The position – Transport Intern

The ECF is looking for an intern, who would support the Transport Team in developing an impactful programme of work to drive the decarbonisation of the transport system, primarily through innovations in fuels and vehicles. More specifically, the intern would help with organising meetings and outreach events and with the daily administrative tasks of a grant-making organisation. The role involves:

Helping with organisation of meetings and events;

Helping with preparation of communication materials;

Administration related to projects and events;

Administration related to grant-making;

Research in support of strategy development;

Attending and reporting back on external events on climate policy.

Required Skills:

Academic degree in relevant subject;

Excellent English language is required, and German or French language is an asset;

Drive and commitment to the issue of climate change and environmental protection;

Proven experience in event organisation and administrative tasks;

Interest in a EU affairs, with ability and willingness to relate to a political environment;

Excellent organisational and time management skills;

Team-working skills – This is a highly networked, people-centred organisation. As a small organisation, everyone at all levels is expected to share menial tasks, such as preparations for meetings. Any sense of self-importance will need to be left at the door;

All the basics of outlook, excel, word, powerpoint must be top notch – if you are good at powerpoint that is a real bonus.

Founded in 1904, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the federation of the world’s leading motoring organisations and the governing body for world motor sport.

The activities of the FIA cover two main pillars: mobility and sport. On the sport side, the FIA administers the rules and regulations for the main international four-wheel motor sport disciplines. On the mobility side, the FIA represents the rights of motor sport organisations, motorists and travellers throughout the world.

The FIA has a position open for an intern to work as part of the FIA Mobility Division team, under the guidance of the Global Public Policy Manager. The internship will focus mainly on policy support.

Responsibilities:

Providing support in policy monitoring, drafting news items & summaries, conducting research for the work of the FIA Policy Commission and its meetings;

Researching background information for briefings on road safety, connectivity and sustainable mobility;

Monitoring UNECE legislative developments (WP1, WP29), meetings and agendas and assisting in the lobbying strategy;
