Praktikum an der Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik in Berlin

die Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik (BAKS) in Berlin-Pankow sucht für das zweite Quartal 2013 bis zu 6 Praktikant/innen zur Unterstützung ihres Studien- und Grundlagenbereichs. Im Sinne der Ausgewogenheit freuen wir uns besonders auf qualifizierte Bewerberinnen.

Wir bieten ein interessantes, vergütetes Praktikum, bei dem Sie ein interdisziplinäres Arbeitsumfeld kennenlernen und intensiv in den Akademiebetrieb einbezogen werden. Zudem haben Sie grundsätzlich Zugang zu unseren hochrangigen Veranstaltungen mit Entscheidungsträgern aus Politik, Verwaltung und Wirtschaft. Die Arbeitsschwerpunkte im angegebenen Zeitraum liegen in der Vorbereitung und Begleitung von Modulen im Seminar für Sicherheitspolitik 2013 (Schwerpunkte Türkei, Nahost und das übergreifende Planspiel der BAKS), dem Nationalen Forum Sicherheitspolitik sowie weiterer sicherheitspolitischer Veranstaltungen der BAKS.

Das Sektorprogramm Frieden und Sicherheit erarbeitet im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) entwicklungspolitische und übersektorale Ansätze zur Förderung von Frieden und Sicherheit. Kernfragen sind z.B.:

• Wie können EZ-Portfolien entlang dieser Anforderungen ausgerichtet werden, um die Risiken im Kontext von Konflikt und Gewalt zu reduzieren?

Im Rahmen des Praktikums sind Sie in der konzeptionellen Erarbeitung fachwissenschaftlicher Beiträge tätig und unterstützen die Kolleginnen am Standort Berlin bei übergreifenden Aufgabenstellen und kurzfristigen Anfragen seitens des BMZ

  Ihr Profil
Sie verfügen mindestens über ein abgeschlossenes Grundstudium/einen Bachelor-Abschluss, vorzugsweise im Bereich der Verwaltungswissenschaften oder Politikwissenschaften. Kenntnisse in Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländern und im Themenfeld Frieden und Sicherheit sind wünschenswert. Sie sind sehr sicher im Umgang mit dem MS-Office-Paket. Internship in the Conventions Team Transparency International Secretariat

The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is seeking a highly motivated intern for its Conventions Team.
Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
The Conventions Team works with international anti-corruption conventions and other instruments which form the international legal framework for combating corruption, particularly the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. It is also the secretariat for the UNCAC Coalition (www.uncaccoalition.org).
Main function: Assisting the Conventions Programme in work relating to international anti-corruption instruments, especially the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and the UN Convention against Corruption.

Key tasks:
 Assisting in compiling national reports on the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) review process

  •  Collecting bribery cases for database

  •  Correspondence with national groups regarding the UN Convention against Corruption and the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention;

  •  Research on conventions-related issues and preparation of draft papers;
  •  Providing general administrative assistance in day-to-day operations (processing of invoices, budget tracking, etc);

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:
  •  Excellent English language skills (working language at TI Secretariat);
  •  Background in law preferred; also considering candidates with degrees in international and comparative politics, international (and development) economics or related social sciences;
  •  Experience in on-line communications and event organisation highly desirable;
  • Some prior office experience, good knowledge of MS Word applications;
  •  Some knowledge of and considerable interest in the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption.

for the AY 2013-2014
For International students enrolling in the first year of a Master of Science program at Bocconi
Bocconi University offers up to 40 need-based scholarships to international students enrolling in a Master of Science Program at Bocconi. The awarding of the scholarship also takes into consideration academic performances of the students.
THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Scholarship consists of full tuition waiver worth approximately € 11,500.00 per year for a maximum of 2 academic years. The renewal of the scholarship is subject to meeting merit criteria.
Scholarship applications must be submitted by the same deadline as that of applicant’s Bocconi online admission’s application; see table below.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Only applicants for the first year of a Bocconi Master program who meet all the following conditions will be taken into consideration for the awarding of the scholarship:
- non-Italian citizenship;
- non-Italian residence;
- a non-Italian Undergraduate degree earned abroad or in Italy;
Students who meet any of the following conditions will NOT be taken into consideration:
- previously enrolled in a graduate program in Italy or abroad;
- recipient of a scholarship awarded for the AY 2013-14 by private or public institutions.

Applicants will be informed about whether or not they have been awarded the scholarship once the
admission’s selection results have been released: approximately 2 weeks after their publication and

SPECIAL CASES: Students who submit their application for admission and for scholarship in a given
admission round, but are placed on “stand by” by the Admission Office, will be evaluated both for

Procedures for awarded students
Candidates awarded a scholarship must complete the following steps (failure to do so will result in the
revocation of the scholarship: no exceptions will be made):
1) enroll in Bocconi according to the timeline and methods as laid out by the admissions office, and
make payment of the advance on the 1st installment of 2013/2014 tuition and fees of € 2,043.00 (the
sum will be reimbursed approximately by the end of January 2014 by Università Bocconi);
2) send the following documents within 60 days of the notification of the awarding of the scholarship:
• the “summarizing form” attached to the confirmation e-mail that applicants receive when they
submit the online Bocconi Scholarship for International Students application form;
• a copy of the student’s valid passport;
• For non-Italian income and assets the following documents must be submitted in original
language together with an official translated version in Italian or English and both the original and
the translated version must be legalized and stamped by the relevant local Italian authority (for
Italian translations) or legalized with an Apostille stamp, Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 (for
Italian and/or English translations) in countries where possible:
 a document indicating the composition of the student’s family household must be
provided. This document should indicate all family members (nuclear and extended)
registered with the same permanent address as the applicant. Please note that the
applicant’s family economic condition will be evaluated considering the applicant’s
family of origin, including parents, as well as all those listed in the official document of
the composition of the student’s family household, including nuclear and extended
family members with the same permanent address;
 a copy of tax returns for the calendar year 2011 for all of the applicant’s family and/or
household members must be provided. (If tax returns are not produced in the student’s
country statements, from each family and/or household members’ employer indicating
the gross person’s gross income for 2011 will be considered together with a declaration
from the relevant tax agency indicating that the person has no liability/obligations
toward the agency/authority for the 2011 year);
 a declaration of gross annual income for the 2011 calendar year for each of the
applicant’s family and/or household members who were employed in the 2011 year
must be provided. This certification should be issued by the employer. For unemployed
members a declaration of unemployment, retirement/pension, or enrollment in
school/university must be provided;
 if one or more of the student’s family household members (nuclear or extended
family) owned a company or shares: a Balance sheet up to 31/12/2011, profit and loss
account and additional note and a document attesting the number of shares for each family and/or household member. If a Balance sheet, as indicated, is not produced in the student’s country the following documents must be provided: A) the final cash balance as of 31 December 2011 B) the overall cost of all assets which can be liquidated with net value of all those paid off as of 31 December 2011 and C) all other assets and properties, as of 31 December 2011;
 if one or more of the student’s family household members (nuclear or extended family) owned developed property as of 31/12/2011: a document indicating the relevant area in square meters of the developed property and, if any, documents certifying any mortgages on this property and theamount which has not been repaid as of 31 December 2011 must be provided;
 if the applicant’s family lives in a rented home/flat, a copy of the rental contract which indicates the rent must be provided;
 if the applicant’s family lives in a home/flat for free and the home/flat is not owned by any of the current habitants a copy of the title dead showing the full name of the owner must be provided;
 documentation attesting movable assets as of 31 December 2011 (bank accounts both checking and savings, stocks, dividends, shareholdings, portions of assets net of any companies owned, etc) for each family and/or household member.
• For household income and assets in Italy (if any): a 2012 ISEE/ISEEU declaration and the D.S.U. (Dichiarazione sostitutiva unica) which refer to the 2011 calendar year.
All information and documents provided by students will be verified. If there are any discrepancies between the data provided by the students when filling out the Bocconi Scholarship online application and the documentation sent by mail, the student will be informed and the scholarship will be revoked. Withholding information could result in disciplinary sanctions.
As ONLY applicants awarded the Bocconi Scholarship for International Students will be required to submit all of the above documentation by registered mail, further details regarding where to send and the deadline by which send the documents will be sent by email to awardees.
RENEWAL CRITERIA
The award will be renewed for a maximum of 1 academic year for Master of Science programs, according to the guidelines set by the official Bocconi Scholarship Application Requirements and Regulations each year, to the students who meet the below criteria:
- are enrolled in the relevant year of the Degree program and have made the payment of the advance on the 1st installment of tuition and fees by 18 September 2014;
- and for the Second year (2014-15) earn at least 49 credits by August 10, 2014 with a grade point average of at least 26/30 The grade point average is calculated as the weighted credit average of all grades for exams and modules passed and registered in the recipient’s academic record.
The renewal of the Bocconi Scholarship for International Students for the second year is not subject to the submission of economic documents each year.
EXCLUSION AND REVOCATION OF THE BOCCONI SCHOLARSHIP
Students will automatically lose the scholarship if they:
- do not accept the award according to the guidelines set forth in the awarding email;
- provide incorrect economic information;
- receive disciplinary sanctions imposed by Bocconi University: disciplinary sanctions imposed by Bocconi University will result in a revocation of all benefits, including those granted for the Academic Year when the sanctioned behaviour took place.
Students whose award is revoked must settle all tuition and fees payments with the TCA office.

2013/2014 Danish Government Long-Term Scholarships for International Students in Denmark

Long Term scholarships are available for master’s and PhD-level students and young research scientists in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark. Bachelor’s degree students can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years. These scholarships are funded by Danish Government under the cultural agreements. These scholarships are opened to citizens of EU-countries, Iceland, Switzerland, Serbia,Turkey and Non-European countries.
Study Subject(s): The Scholarships are aimed at highly qualified exchange students wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark, such as: design, architecture, environmental studies, and other related fields.
Course Level:
 Scholarships are only available to masters and PhD-level students and young research scientists. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years.

Scholarship Description: The Danish Agency for Universities and Internationalisation has initiated an administrative reform of the Danish Government Scholarships for Foreign Nationals (the Cultural Agreements), i.e. the Long-Term Scholarships and the Danish Summer Language Courses.  The Danish Government Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements are aimed at highly qualified exchange students and young research scientists wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark.
Duration of award: Scholarships are tenable during the academic year. The autumn term begins on September 1st, the spring term on February 1st.
What does it cover? Scholarships for bachelor’s students in Danish language and literature and for master’s students include free tuition and a monthly stipend of DKK 5,000.  Danish Government Scholarships can be applied to cover living, travel, and visa expenses and are for one person only. Selection Criteria: In the selection process, the Danish host institutions will give priority to candidates:
-Who motivate their choice of a specific research programme or field of study through its relation to Danish language, culture or other Danish areas of expertise. Successful applicants will describe the Danish dimension in their choice of studies or research when applying in fields such as: design, music, architecture, welfare, environmental studies, etc.
-Who are nominated by a lecturer who teaches Danish in their home country. Applicants should include a reference from the lecturer in their application.
-Who study Danish or Scandinavian languages and literature.
-Who refer to an internationally acclaimed lecturer at the desired Danish host institution with whom they would like to study.
-Who have contacted the desired Danish host university and received an invitation from a lecturer to conduct studies or research there.
-Who study at a partner university or institution of the desired Danish host university.

How to Apply: Please note that the Danish Government Scholarships for EU-countries, Iceland, Serbia, Switzerland and Turkey are currently being reformed. Applicants from Japan should use the online application form (Note: applicants from Tokai University must use the paper application).
Scholarship Application Deadline: Deadline for applications for the Long-Term Scholarships for the academic year 2013/2014 for students and researchers from China, Egypt, Israel, Japan, and Russia: February 28, 2013. The deadline for EU-countries, Iceland, Switzerland, Serbia and Turkey will be published in the start of February 2013.
