EU Advocacy and Research Intern

PlasticsEurope is one of the leading European trade associations with centres in Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris. We are networking with European and national plastics associations and have more than 100 member companies, producing over 90% of all polymers across the EU 28 member states plus Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. The European plastics industry makes a significant contribution to the welfare in Europe by enabling innovation, creating quality of life to citizens and facilitating resource efficiency and climate protection. More than 1.45 million people are working in about 62,000 companies (mainly small and medium sized companies in the converting sector) to create a turnover in excess of 300 bn EUR per year. The plastics industry includes polymer producers - represented by PlasticsEurope, converters - represented by EuPC and machine manufacturers - represented by EUROMAP.

We are looking for a (m/f)

EU Advocacy and Research Intern

for a six month internship to support in all advocacy activities

The position is for a highly motivated, well organised and efficient candidate who is looking to gain hands-on EU policy and advocacy experience and country and issue-specific knowledge.

Responsibilities:

Research and draft background materials on EU policy and activities

Support the advocacy team in monitoring closely and preparing regular news summaries and updates on EU policies and institutions, as well as EU member state developments;

Review and prepare summaries and analysis of EU policy documents

Attend advocacy meetings, conferences and events and prepare event reports and meeting notes

Provide general administrative support

Requirements:

An undergraduate degree or in pursuit of a degree, preferably in European studies, Economics, Law, Political Science or similar

Knowledge of EU policy and decision-making procedures and institutions

Strong research skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail

Analytical skills and ability to digest complex information into concise and informative briefs

Strong oral and written skills in English

Knowledge of other European languages would be an asset

Possession of a EU passport, student visa, or other means of residing in Belgium for a minimum of six months
