NATO Defense College Fellowships in Rome, Italy

Description
The NATO Defense College currently offers eight fellowships each year in the field of defense and security policy research related to NATO and its partners. The objective is to promote research and political consulting in areas of particular interest to the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC), to NATO’s partners in the Partnership for Peace (PfP) and to NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) partners and Other Military Cooperation (OMC) / Partners Across the Globe (PAG).
This year, Two Fellowships are available for candidates from PfP countries, two for candidates from MD countries, two for candidates from NATO countries, and one for a candidate from an OMC/PAG Country. The duration of each fellowship is four months. The fellow will be located at the NATO Defense College, in Rome, Italy.
Eligibility
Candidates for the NDC/PfP Fellowships: must be citizens of one of the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Macedonia, Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan;
Candidates for the NDC/MD Fellowships: must be citizens of one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Mauritania or Tunisia;
Candidates for the NDC/OMC/PAG Fellowship: must be citizens of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Japan, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, and Mongolia;
Candidates for the NDC/Eisenhower Fellowships: must be citizens of one of the following countries: Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The fellows will be selected on the basis of their specific aptitude and experience for carrying through a major defense or security research project related to NATO, its member states and/or the Partner country (research projects with no relation to NATO will not be considered). Beside the quality of the research proposal, very important in order to be selected will be the academic qualifications of the candidate, professional experience and publication record. Candidates must have a good working knowledge of English or French and be computer literate.
Fellowship
16,000 EUR are provided for the fellow intended to cover the costs of their stay in Rome and their travel expenses.

Candidates for PfP Fellowships are invited to submit proposals in the area of Euro-Atlantic security. Candidates for MD Fellowships are invited to submit proposals in the area of Mediterranean security. Candidates for the OMC/PAG Fellowship are invited to submit proposals in the area of NATO’s global security partnerships. Candidates for the Eisenhower Fellowships are invited to submit proposals reflecting the priorities and challenges for the Alliance and its member states.
