Description
The Directorate General Market Infrastructure and Payments
(DG/MIP) is seeking applications from recent graduates and/or from PhD students
who have completed at least two calendar years of their PhD studies for a six-month
traineeship (with the possibility of an extension to up to 12 months in
total).
DG/MIP is responsible for the ECB’s
activities related to the provision of payment and securities settlement
services, the oversight of financial market infrastructures and payment
instruments, and cooperation with market stakeholders to achieve financial
market integration. It also works with financial institutions and non-euro
area central banks on policy matters relating to regional and global
developments in the field of market infrastructure and payments.
DG/MIP consists of four divisions: Market Infrastructure
Development, Market Infrastructure Management, Market Integration and
Oversight. Within the division to which the selected trainee(s) will be
assigned he/she will work in one of the teams in charge of a particular dossier
on the basis of his/her interests and profile.
Eligibility
Applicants must have the following knowledge and
competencies:
For the PhD traineeship:
A master’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years
of PhD studies in a relevant field such as economics, finance, business
administration, law or a related discipline.
For the bachelor/master traineeship:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as
economics, finance, business administration, law or a related discipline.
For both types of traineeship:
Basic knowledge of financial market infrastructures (payment
systems/central securities depositories/securities settlement services/central
counterparties) and/or the role of collateral and collateral management
arrangements and/or payment instruments as well as financial markets/products
would be an asset.
Applicants are accepted from nationals of the Member
States of the European Union.
Remuneration
The trainee grant is the exact amount of EUR 1,050 per
month. The trainee grant is increased to EUR 1,900 per month for
trainees who have completed at least two years of PhD study and who apply for a
traineeship vacancy that requires such a level of qualification.
