OECD Young Professionals Programme

The Young Professional Programme 2013 is now open for  applications until 25 November 2012.

The OECD Young Professionals Programme is designed to bring entry-level professionals with diverse backgrounds into the Organisation.
A number of stimulating and challenging assignments are available for the Young Professionals who will join the OECD in 2013. Details of the areas of work and the type of role the Young Professional will fulfil can be found here.

Who are the Young Professionals?

Candidates who are interested in the objectives of the OECD in promoting international policy co-operation, understand the issues involved in international work, and who possess the analytical and drafting skills which enable them to contribute to policy-related studies.

Am I eligible for the Young Professionals Programme?

Candidates must have the nationality of an OECD member country and born after 1 January 1980.

The ideal candidate has:

• Advanced academic degree in a subject of relevance to the OECD's work .
• Candidates with Master's degree(s) should have gained a minimum of two years'  full time professional experience in related fields.
• Strong quantitative skills for the purpose of analysis demonstrated by academic achievement.
• Knowledge of country policies and institutions and an understanding of political and reform processes;
• Creativity and innovation to seek out and improve current practice.
• The ability to work independently and to contribute to team achievements in a collegial fashion.
• Proven ability to adapt to a range of different projects and new statistical and computing techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in an international, team-oriented and collaborative environment.
• An excellent command, with proven drafting ability, of at least one of the two OECD official languages (English and French).  Proficiency in additional languages can be an advantage.

What kind of work does a Young Professional do?

Our Young Professionals work with experienced and enthusiastic people, representative of a rich diversity of cultures, languages and professional backgrounds. They collaborate with many of the 40 000 senior national policy makers who each year participate in the OECD’s technical and policy meetings.

Working in a highly stimulating multicultural team environment, this is an opportunity to be at the focal point of an international network, involved in some of the most innovative, high profile research and policy discussion taking place.

Young Professionals’ assignments are based on organisational requirements and matched to professional experience, academic background and personal preference.  The assignments take place at the OECD’s headquarters in Paris, France, one of the most attractive cities in the world.

Travel may be required for a variety of reasons including collecting information, working with specialists, experts and policy makers from all over the world and participating in the effective communication of the OECD’s work to a broad range of audiences. The amount of travel varies depending on the area of work and role.

A Young Professional, under the supervision of experienced professionals, carries out research and analysis of issues of current policy relevance. This research is used for the preparation of policy documents, committee reports, intergovernmental discussion and publication. Young Professionals contribute to the monitoring, analysis, forecasting and reporting of economic and social developments.  Active professional development is encouraged both on the job and through specific training sessions.

What are the salary and benefits?

We offer competitive tax-free salaries plus an attractive benefits package, which may include expatriation and family allowances depending on your individual situation.
