University of Sussex offers 10 scholarships to international
students for doctoral degree program.
Scholarships are available for PhD degree progam in any
subjects within Social Science Schools of study at the University of Sussex.
This scholarship aims to assist high achieving and highly
motivated internationl research scholars at University of Sussex.
The University of Sussex is a leading higher education and
research institution near Brighton, in the south of England. Sussex was the
first of the new wave of UK universities founded in the 1960s, receiving its
Royal Charter in 1961. Goal is to deliver teaching and learning programmes that
are informed by current research, are attractive to students from all
socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and which deliver skills for life.
Applicants must meet the University’s academic entry
requirements and the IELTS English Language Requirements contained in the
postgraduate prospectus. If your first language is not English, you will
normally be required to pass an English language test, such as IELTS or PTE, to
study at Sussex. You can find the English requirements for your course in our
study with us pages (under ‘entry requirements’). The level of English required
varies by subject and level of study and is expressed in IELTS terms but the
link below gives a list of commonly accepted equivalencies.

Eligibility: -Applicants must apply for a PhD in one
of the Social Science Schools of study at the Univeristy of Sussex:
-You must be classified as an international fee paying student to apply.
-Applicants must commence their PhD academic studies in the United Kingdom in September 2016.
-Applicants must meet the University’s academic entry requirements and the IELTS English Language Requirements contained in the postgraduate prospectus

Scholarship Open for International Students: International
Students can apply for these scholarships.
Scholarship Description: The University of Sussex is
seeking to attract 10 international research scholars. A scholarship will
normally be tenable for one year in the first instance, renewable annually for
a maximum of 3 years for full-time doctoral students. The scholarship will
cover international fees and provide a stipend which will match that provided
for UK doctoral students by the UK Research Council.
Number of award(s): The University of Sussex is seeking
to attract 10 international research scholars.
Duration of award(s): A scholarship will normally be
tenable for one year in the first instance, renewable annually for a maximum of
3 years for full-time doctoral students.
What does it cover? The scholarship will cover
international fees and provide a stipend which will match that provided for UK
doctoral students by the UK Research Council.
Selection criteria: Not Known
Notification: Applicants will be notified of the
outcome regarding their application by Friday 11th March 2016.
How to Apply: Applicants should apply online to the
University of Sussex by Wednesday 13th January 2016, you are also required to
complete and submit a Chancellor’s International Research Scholarship (CIRS) application
form by 29th January 2016. Applicants will need to attach a project summary to
their CIRS application form. The document should be no longer than 2 sides of
A4 and needs to outline the overall goals and proposed timeline of the proposed
research project. It should focus on the logistics of the research, rather than
its theoretical or intellectual content. It must also give details of any
language training and fieldwork that will be necessary in order to carry out
the proposed research.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The application
deadline is 29 January 2016.
