Brunel International Scholarships Programme in UK, 2015-2016

Brunel University is inviting applications for a Brunel international scholarships from students starting a new programme of study in the academic year 2015/16. Total 37 scholarships which will comprise a 15% discount on the cost of tuition fees will be awarded. These scholarships are open to all undergraduate, postgraduate and research students who are classed as overseas for fee purposes. Course applicants who intend to defer their studies must re-apply for a scholarship in the year they will begin their studies. Scholarships are distributed proportionately over 7 regions: East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Central Asia, South East Asia, Africa, South Asia, the Americas. The last date for receiving applications is May 30, 2015 (5pm (GMT). All applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision by the middle of July.
-Students who are eligible for the Brunel Postgraduate Academic Excellence scholarship cannot be awarded a Brunel International scholarship. If you apply and later become eligible for an Academic Excellence scholarship, we will automatically withdraw your application for the Brunel International scholarships and award you the Academic Excellence Scholarship.

What does it cover? -A 15% discount on the tuition fees for the academic year 2015/16. This discount is a single contribution and will not be continued in subsequent years and is not applicable to any additional fees such as resubmission or module resit fees. No cash alternative will be offered.
-The scholarship does not replace the deposit of £3000. All scholarship awardees will need to pay the £3000 deposit for their course in order to receive an unconditional offer and a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS).
-Scholarship awardees will be responsible for paying the remainder of their tuition fees after the scholarship contribution is deducted from the total fees.
-Scholarship awards will not be credited towards tuition fees until the applicant has fully registered at Brunel University. This includes having qualifications and other documentation verified and checked and holding the correct visa to study.
-Scholarship awardees who have already paid the full course fees will receive a refund once they have met all conditions of their offer and registered as a student at Brunel University.
-Those awarded a Brunel International Scholarship may be eligible for the 2% prompt payment discount. This will be deducted from the tuition fees remaining after the scholarship discount has been applied.

International Postgraduate Scholarships at Queen’s University Belfast, UK

In 2015/2016, there up to 100 awards available for international students who planning to commencing Masters degree in September 2015. Each of the selected applicants will receive maximum £3,000. To apply, the completed application form must submitted no later than 3 April 2015.
Scholarship Description
There are 100 scholarships are now available to talented fee-paying international students who will be starting a Masters degree in September 2015. The scholarship does not count towards the mandatory deposit. The scholarship will be deducted from the remaining tuition fees payable to Queen’s upon enrollment in September 2015. For applicants who have met all the course entry requirements and have accepted an unconditional offer of a place of study for a one-year postgraduate taught course, please note that a mandatory deposit must be paid towards tuition fees before a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) for visa/immigration purposes will be issued.

Sacred Heart Scholarship (RUSH) – University of Roehampton Scholarship, UK

Beijing Government Scholarships for International Students, 2015

Applications are invited for Beijing government scholarships from international students studying or applying for studying in Beijing. Duration differs with respect to the subjects chosen. It takes around 4 to 5 years for undergraduates, 2 to 3 years for Masters degree candidates and 3 years for PhD degree candidates. The duration varies for Chinese language students, general scholar candidates and senior scholar candidates. An applicant receives financial support from otherChinese government scholarship programs or organizations/agencies would not be eligible for the Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship.
Application Deadline: Students must notice that applications with application materials should be handed to the relevant university or college before the end of February.

3) 20,000 RMB/year/ for a Bachelor degree
4) 10,000 RMB/year for senior training or long-term language program
5) 5,000 RMB/year for Exchange students or students with outstanding contributions to international education in Beijing.
Application procedures, timing and documents
1) Applicants must submit documents to the Chinese government office in charge of sending international students to China, relevant offices in the applicants’ home country, or the Chinese diplomatic missions or embassies in the applicants’ home country.
2) Applicants may register via the web with the Beijing Education Commission 
3) Applicants may submit documents to Chinese institutions in Beijing directly.
Application timing. All application materials should be handed to the relevant university or college before the end of February. Application documents (completed in English or Chinese) Applicants must fill in and provide the following documents correctly.
1) Application Form for Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship (can be collected from the institutions in Beijing or downloaded from the school’s website)
2) The highest diploma and transcripts (notarized photocopy).
3) Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by the Chinese quarantine authority and only for those whose period of study in China is six months or greater).
4) Applicants for Degree study or specialized research should submit a study plan (no more than 400 words) or a research plan (no more than 800 words).
5) Applicants for music and fine arts are requested to submit personal works.
6) Applicants under the age of 18 should submit legal documents of their legal guardians in China.
7) Whether applicants are admitted or not, the documents will not be returned.
Selection of Institutions and Specialties
Applicants may choose institutions and specialties from Chinese institutions of higher education in the Beijing region. Please check details or submit application forms to institutions directly.
Approvals and Notification
1)Institutions of higher education in Beijing will review all application materials of qualified applicants for the scholarship will be forwarded to the Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students to make a further review.
2)Institutions will send the Scholarship Letter, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China to applicants who will be confirmed as Scholarship students three months before the opening of the new academic year.
3)The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if applicants are not qualified or application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations or are incomplete.
4)Each year, schools will review academic performance of each scholarship recipient. The scholarship recipient would disqualify if they violate Chinese laws, disobey school rules or guidelines of the Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students.
After students finish studying, institutions will conduct a comprehensive review on each student, and send a report to the Leadership Group for Establishing the Scholarship Program for International Students and put it on record.
Visa Applications and Registrations in China
Visa Application
Students under the Beijing Government Scholarship Program should apply for a visa to study in China at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General with original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China and Physical Examination Form for Foreigners, and a valid passport. Scholarship students who are going to stay in the country for more than 6 months must apply for an “X” visa, while those who will stay less than 6 months will need to apply for an “F” visa. Scholarship students must enter the country with original copies of above documents. A person coming to China with other types of passports visas or without original documents cannot register with the institution.
Registration
International students must arrive at and register in the institution at the time specified in the Admission Notice. If the rate of the scholarship cannot meet the tuition fees, students must pay the difference. Those unable to register before the specified time must ask for permission from the institution directly. Those who fail to register without the prior consent of the institution will be considered as voluntarily giving up their enrollment, and the scholarship will be withdrawn. Those who arrive in Beijing before the scholarship program begins shall bear all expenses incurred.

Research and Innovation Communication Intern

The Research and Innovation department of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, has a rolling programme of internships for communication students reaching the end of their studies and recent communication graduates. Cefic, the forum and voice of the chemical industry in Europe, is the largest European trade group in Brussels; we offer valuable and rewarding work experience in a welcoming, stimulating multicultural team.

For this position, we need highly motivated individuals with excellent spoken and written English to manage or help with various projects relating to resource and energy efficiency, water, raw materials, biotechnology, smart cities, innovation for growth and sustainable chemistry in the following areas:
  • EU project communication;
  • Publishing: web, print, social media;
  • Research and analysis; copywriting; drafting and publishing documents or blog posts;
  • Coordinating online-based communications projects;
  • Events communication support.
The intern will work with colleagues in the Research and Innovation team in charge of specific issues, and report to the Communication Manager. The extent of their responsibilities and autonomy will depend on their capacity to take initiatives and manage projects, as well as their skills, areas of specialisation and previous experience, if any. 

Typical projects can consist of:
  • Support the communication work packages of EU funded projects;
  • Communication assistance to the SusChem Secretariat (www.suschem.org);
  • Support event communication campaigns;
  • Produce (collate, edit or draft) texts to be published (print or online) and maintain the unit’s websites, including: the news section, the event’s calendar, new content for thematic pages and member’s databases (www.suschem.org and project websites);
  • Develop visually attractive presentations;
  • Once the intern is more familiar with the organisation, attend meetings and make suggestions on ways to communicate around a specific issue or event.

  • Ability to synthesize and translate complex issues into clear and concise messages;
  • Very well-organised, able to exercise initiative and organize work under strict deadlines with the ability to set priorities, strong analytical skills an asset;
